Frora tho Nashville Banner, 29th.] A. few nights since, a party of nion who had organised themselves into a vigilance rommitte, lor the purpose of protecting themsplves and neighbors from horse thieves who hav« beeh committing a great many daprodations in the Eastern part of tho county, succeeded ia capturing 3 notorious murderer and horse thief named Jack Barnee. He had made his escape several times from the officers of the law after he had been arrested.
The party who last captured Barnes lodged him in jail in Pulaski for trial. Fri.lay tiionruing, between one and two o'clock, band ot sixty or seventy men in disguise forced their way into liie jail and took him away. A few hours later, ha Was found, stifT and cold, hanging to a tree about fi ur miles «ast of Pulaski, roar lha Fayetteville road.
IJarnes is represented as having been a terror to the peaceable citizens of Gile# county for many months past. He killed one two men during bis career of crimp, arid stole an almost incredible number of horses.
