"tough" story of a man named Alden, who formerly lived in Eol River township, Allen county. Two years ago he sold some land which ho had owned in one of the far western States. Ho could never be induced to tell anyone for what he bad sold it or how he had disposed of the money, even his wife and children could not worm tho secret out of bim. It even occasioned family difference. Search was made in all directions, but no trace of any money could be found. About a month ago the wife died, but. even on her death bed she was unable to induce her husband to reval his seoret. Two weeks afttr his wife died, the man followed her to the grave, leaving no papers which gave any clue to the missing money When tbe executors came to settle up the estate, it was proposed to sell a lot of buckwheat, which had been lying for some time in the barn. hen they csme to measure it, hidden away beneath it were found over two thousand dollars in gold, and a quantity of «ilver coin, undoubtedly. the money which had been received for the land more than two years before.
