ONE of the "best citizens" of Evansville figured before the Police Court charged with "disorderly conduct" and was fined and costed $7 20 according to the Courier of that city. Probably the "best citizen' was a man of money, else he would have been "a worthless cuss."

THE
next Republican candidate for
Congress in this District will be selected from the following aspirants: Col. WW. Carter, of Clay Col. William E. McLean, of Vigo or General Morton C. Hunter, of Monroe. We believe that there will be no other candidates submitted to the Convention. Either one of these gentlemen would make a good race, and if elected would fill the position with honor to himself and his constituents.

THK Secretarj' of State recently received a letter from the Oregon State 3eccet&ry, inclosing an impression of the Oregon seal, and asking an exchange.— Colonel T. cheerfully complied, and by this time our left-handed woodman, who don't spare the tree, and the impossible buffalo, head down and tail up, spurning the velvety turf with wounding hoofs as he launches out toward sundown, are on their way to Oregon. We suggest that an exchange be effected with the Governor of Alaska, and we understand they have plenty of seals in that favored clime. —JtkL Sentinel.
