HALL'S

Vegetable Sicilian

5SAIK BESBWEB

Has stood the tc=t of tuvcn years before the public and no preparation for the hair trs yet been discovered that will produce the same beneficial results. It is an entirely new scientific discovery, combining many of tiie luoit powerful and restorative ngenta in the VEGETABLE KINGDOM. It restores GRAY HAIR TO ITS ORIGINAL YOUTHFUL COLOR. It mates the scalp white and clean cures dandruff and humors, and falling out «f tbo hair and will make it grow upon bald heads except in very aged j/Crsons, as :t furnishes the nutritive principle by which the hair is nourished: and supported. It makes the hair moist, and glossy, and is unsurpassed as a HAIR DRESSING. It is the cheapest preparation ever oflk-rei to the public, as one hot. tie will accomplish more and last longer than three bottles of atiy other preparation.

It is rec-iaimcndei and used by the Firs Medical Aiahsrity. The wor.dsrful results produced bv our Sicilian Hair Retewer have induced many to manufacture preparations for the Hait under various names and, in order to induce the trade and tho public to purchase their compound?, they have resorted to falsehood, by claiming Ihry were former partners, or had some connection with our Mr. Hall, and their preparation was similar to ours. Di not bo deceived by them. Purchase tho original: it has never yet been pqnalled. Our Treatise on the Hair, with certificates, sent free by moil. See that eachbattle has our private Revenue Stamp over tho top of the bottle. All others are imitations.

"HOTHL\G TO WEAK."

Tim* speeds on—the boor draws near, When, the (laden time of all the year Is tbat of our groat State fair, And J-rph, I bare nothing to wear V* "v?

Bach oid helrloom of coitly lace Is worn to threads nor on this place, A cheat or trunk or box is there, I've not searched through for something to wear.

But to my friends "yon must not tell," I'H send down word "I am not well." It will not do, tho' friends they are, To bear that I )3ad nothing to wear.

Sot for worlds would they come again, Sot for worlds wonld I give inch pain, Not worse fright from a lion's lair. Than a shabby friend, witb nothing to wear.

Or, I'll starve tbe family a week or so To save the stamps to make a'show Or, at least, I can put them on half fere Bather than say, I had nothing to wear.

VTe may hide tha nakedness within— And if we can pray Where's the sin Bat a fearful penalty, I cannot bear, Awaiteth those who have nothing to wear.

I'd rather sew and stitch and fret All night on one gay gown than let Miss Noble have one half so rare— 0, I'd as lief have nothing to wear!

Who cares for the talents they may find, Who cares for the beauties of a mind. With form in sackcloth and despair. In meek humility and nothing to wear

Better face scorn and woe and bate Than to be in dress one year too late Better to be dead—to be anywhere Than oat of date—with nothing to wear.

M. S. LAUfi.

BOMB of the leading organs of tbe copperhead organization throughout the country are alleging that their party is not responsible for tho acts of President Johnson—and yet there it not a single act of his, bince the hanging of tha assassins, that these organs and the whole "Demo cratio" party had not previously adviied, or which they have not indorsed and applauded. Those same organs have recently announced tbat the President must not expect the "Damocratio" party to carry him on its back, which means that as soon as he has done all the "dirty work1' for them preparatory to the next Presidential campaign, they intend to quietly lay bim on the ehelf If Johnson was not as stupid as he is willful in wrongv doing, he would see through the trickery of those who are now using him, but who, it is very evident, will promptly throw him overboard as soon as they have done with him. In Pennsylvania and some other States, the Democrats" are opening the election campaign Anally for us. While their organs in othor States are disavowing responsibility for the President's acts, the leaders on the stump in those States are pricking him on to .further developments of a "policy" which they openly deiight in. They indorse him so far as to place themselves on the rebel platform, that Congress is a usurping body, a body of "conspirators" and be is called upon to take all the powers with which the Constitution has invested him to meet them and put them down. They mean that be shall go beyond those powers. Tbisis the true position of tbe "Democratic" party, and we are glnd to see it taVen frank* ly and boldly. When,on his way to Chicago, the President spoke of Congress as being on the verge of the Government, tbe people responded at tbe election, by giving it such strength that even he did not doubt the policy of respecting it.— The country has been alarmed by rumors that tbe Executive mediates more than peaceful and legal measures the tone of bis ''Democratic" friends and organs give force to bis apprehension. "We cannot think that there is any real ground it, although we know that the President is surrounded by men who would wish a revolution rather than see the Government settled firmly on the principles of the Republican party. But let the design be clearly declared in the canvass, and tbe people will :take care of the matter, as they, did before. Let it be plainly understood that, if strengthened by Demo* cratio. successes, the President intends to use the executive power in opposition to tbo legislative enactments of the land, and we shall look with confidence to a repetition of the rebuke which he received in the returns to the Fortieth Congress.— The side issues that have distracted our party, the indifference that has come over so many, from the assurance of success, will give way to vigorous, united effort, and the will of tbe people, rising high over the obstacles which unfaithful public servants have put in its way, will sweep on, carrying everything before it. Whatthat will is, nobody can doubt. It batbeen expressed over and over again, not hastily, but upon mature deliberation, and rehffirmed as often as questioned. The ••Democratic" organs may disavow "responsibility". for the President's acts, but sit ot a little remarkable that ho fol lows their counsels and obeys their wiehea and tbat their party glories in all bis usurpations and follies, and that he and they share like sympathies, hopes and ifears? This Is a common one, and the defeat of the one is the defeat of the other. A Republican success is notless mor titying tha "Democracy" than it is to the President and the Southern rebels.

BEFORE tho meeting of Congress, last December, wo were toid tbat the President would attempt by force to prevont its assembling. We are now told, on very much tbe same authority, tbat the President is determiued, in case of his impeach meet, to ^'prorogue Congress," call for new elections, and appeal to the people Precisely where the President finds his authority for dispersing Congress, and calling a new eleetion that is not prescribed by law, is not stated. If those who attribute to the President this revo lution&ry design of driving Congress out of tbe Capitol could prove their allegations, and if he should take the first step in that direction there would be no m»re argument about impeachmont. Tbat question, at least, would bo settled. The people would dispose of such aa attempt at usurpation in a way that would be a lesson to treason beyond any that it received in the war of the rebellion, or is lik«iy to receive after it Strange as Mr. Johnson's conduot has been, we will not do him the injustice to beljeve that he crime.
