The above was written by Dr. Poland, in I860.— Since then, as in Manchester, tho White Fine Compound has taken tho lead of all Cough Remedies, as well as preparations'for tho cure of Kidney difficulties, iu every city towu, villago and hamlet throughout the New England States.
This remedy Is as sate and pleasant to take as it 1B effectual.
The. ditorof the Manchester Daily and Weekly Mirror, iu the leader of the Daily, thus writes of the Compound: "The White Pine Compound is advertised at much length in our columns, and we are bappj to loam that tli» demand fur it is iucroas ng beyond all previo expiations It is iU» vory be.it medicine for coughs and coldi we know of, aud no family that has oiu used It wl 1 ever bo without it. We cannot doubt it, so mau.i testimonials come to us from w*ll known mon. .Betiides, tho character of Dr. l'olaud is such thnt wo know that he will not con.-iten .uce what is wrohg. For years a Baptist clergyman, studying modiciue to 8nd remedies for his ailmauts, Avlth delicate, consumptivo look, standing with one luot upon lUv gra*e, ho made the dlscovcry which has safed himself, and called out from others the tr®uRt»t testimonials possible. The White Pine Compound. "It was oarlv in tho spring of 1855 that tblCompound was originated. A member of my facii, ly was afflicted witu an Irritation of the throats attended with a dlsagreirablo cough, I bad for soiuo months prevl ms thought that a piep&ratlon having for its basis the insldo arli of whito plno might be ao compounded as to be very useful in diseases of ttio throat and lun^s. 'Potest the value of »t la tho case alluded to, I compounded a small quantity of th« medicine that I had been planning, and gave it oonfnl dosts, Thu result was osceodlngly gratifying. Within two days the irritation of the throat was removed, the cough bubsided and a speedy euro was effeetbd. Soon after this I sent somo to a lady in Londonderry, N. II., who had beon suffering for aorno weeks from a bad cough, occasioned by a Bndden cold, and had raised mucua^treaked with blood. She soon found relieff and sent for more. She to about ten ouncei of it, and got well. J. B. Olaike, Esii, editor of the Manchester Daily Mirror, mado a trial of tho same preparation in tho case of a sovere cold, and was cured immediately, lie was ao highly pleased with the results, and so confident In success attending its sales, if placed buforo the public, that he finally persuaded mo to gtvo it a name, aud send it abroad to benefit tho suffering. In November, 1855, I first advertised it tinder the namoof White Pino Compound. In two years from ttmt time thcro had beon wholesaled in Manchester alone One Hundred Collars wcrtb, where It took tho lead of all the cough remedies in. the market, and it still maintains that position. Theio is gfod reasons for all this it is very roothingand healing iu its nature, is warming to the stomach, and pleasant withal to the tsste, and is exceedingly cheap. "As a remedy for kidney complaints the WhitePine Compound stands unrivalod. It was originated lot that, purpose, but a person in using It for a con .1,1 was not only curcd of the cough, but was also cured of a liidnuy difflc lty of ten years standing. Since that accidental distovory many thousands liavu used it for the sumo complaint, and havo bean completely cured."
