WAREHOUSE No. 19 Front St. between Main & Walnut

HE above is a wood cut of a double geared "Qeen of South" Corn Mill. We manufacture a Cob Breaker of great Strength and durability, and ease of operation.

Wo prac$ this useful contrivance on all sixes of Mills, by which meanl^V^ convert a Corn Mill into a Stock Feed Mill but a fewrftjpntes work lo put it on, or to take it off.

We mannfactdre portable Mills, single and double geared (best quality of French hurrs) to grind Wheat, Corn and Stock Feed's, calculated for steam, water or horse power. These Mills have been run by steam and horsepower In competition against the other make of Mills of our city, at our Stale Fairs, and have never failed to carry off the first premium—ou one occasion was awarded a beautiful silvei medal. Our Mills, also took two first premiums, as the best Mills, at two annual Fairs of our Mechanic's Institute.

ALSO—Portable Saw Mills, to be run by steam, water or horsepower. This Mill was exhibited in operation by horse power, nt the Ohio State Fair, In 1850, when it was awarded a premium aud a splendid silver medal. Jv

ALSO—Different kinds of portable horse powers, and steam Engines. All our articles, for ease of operation simplicity, usefulness, anddurability, are surpassed by none now in use.

All onr articles are warranted as represented—or no sale—at our cost of transportation and the money refunded For a foil description and testimonials of merit and usefulness we refer those interested to our pamphlet, to bo had at our factory, where we take pleasure to explain each article. ISAAC STRAUB &. CO.

NOTK.—Mr. Kimball, the partner of J.H. Burrows, while exhibiting a Burows Mill at our State Fair, last fall, was boisterous about his Mill, and courageously entered into a verbal agreement with me to grind corn thus: whoever grinds the most, regarding quality and quantity, waa to be the owner of both mills, at each and every trial.

FIRST TRIAL

Straub to run an 18 inch Mill 1/ Burrows & Co. to run a 20 inch Mill. SECOND TRIAL. Straub to run a 22 inch Mill: Burrows & Co. to run a 24 inch Mill.

5

Straub to run a 26 inch Mill Burrows & Co. to run a 30 Inch Mill. When the pinch came, that boisterous courage stepped out

To the above I now append a challenge to grind cob feed out of whole ears of corn. I will run my 18 inch "Queen of the South," with a cobbreaker attachment, the same article that took the premium at the Ohio State Fair, last fall, against a 24 inch Burrows Mill and Wm. Stewart's Ohio and Kentucl^y Stock Feed Mills, both to be run at once and if you are apprehensive of a risky business, you have my entire approbation to run Mr Pomeroy's Corn Crusher

as

an auxiliary. Should my

gle article fail to grind equal in quality and quantity to the combined productions of tho two or three mills (just

please then you can draw a few hundred dollars as

sin

as

put up. Come boys, don't be cowardly—there is nothing like walking strait into the merits of a thing.

Oct 8, 1852-2m3 ISAAC STRAUB.

THE COST OF GOING TO HOUSEKEEPING.

"I^HE subscriber having determined to put his prices at .L the lowest remunerative point in view of increasing his sales, has no hesitation in showing his list of prices to his customers, assuring them (which is almost needloss,) that fpr the quality of article presented, the price is marked down to the lowest possible rate. Other articles may and doubtless Will be offered for. less price, bearing the same shape and name, bnt unless with a view of making Up the difference, the article cannot be of the same quality. Havlug my line of importation and manufacture now fully complete, no other establishment

you

Btakes

CAN

undersell me. As my profits will necessarily be small, I cannot afford to run any risk whatever in credits, therefore the cash will be expected on the delivery of the goods.

In specifying my prices so closely, I am determined to hold to my usual rule of selling only articles of the beat quality.

An inferior class of goods would look cheaper on paper, but a year's use would show the difference in favor of the best.

A rule adopted in this Establishment fonr years since will be strictly adhered to-tbal of naming the lowest price, and strictly adhering to that price. I refer to list to show what can be done towards house keeping for $30.

See what it lias done on a wasted constitution, not only in the following cases, but a thousand more: SDDBI'RV, Jan. 24th, 1851.

Dr. Ayer: In tho month of July last I wan attacked ly a violent diarrhoea in tho miues of California. 1 returned to San Francisco in hope of receiving benefit from change of climate and diet. My dinrrhca ceased, bnt was followed by a severe cough—aud much soreness. I filially started for home, but received no benefit from the voyage. My cough contlued to grow worse, and when 1 arrived iu New York, I was at once marked by my acquaintances as a victim If consumption. I must confess that 1 saw no sufficient reason to doubt what my friends all believed.— At this time I commenced takiug your truly iuvalanble medicine with little expectation of deriving any benefit from its use* You would not receive these tines did I not regard It my duty to state to the afflicted, throngh you, that my health, !n the space of eight months, is fully restored. I attribute it to the use of your CHERRY PECTORAL. 'Yours truly WILLIAM W. SMITH.

WASHINGTON, Pa., April 12, 1848.

Dear Sir: Feeling that 1 have been spared from a premature grave, through your snstrumentality by the providence of God, I will take the liberty to express to yon my gratitude.

A Cough and alarming symptoms of Consumption had reduced me too lew to leave me anything like hope, when my physician brought me a bottle of your "PECTORAL."— It seemed to afford immediate relief, and now in a few weeks time has restored me to sound health.

If it will do for others what it has for me, you are certainly one of the benefactors of maukind. n, Sincerely wishing yon every blessing, I am

Very respectfully yours

Of all the numerous raediclues extant, fancTsome of them valuable) for the cure of pulmonary complaints, nothing has ever been found which could compare in its effects with tills Preparation. Others cure sometimes, but at all times and in all diseases of the lungs and throat where medislne can give relief, this will do U. It Is pleasant to take, and perfectly safe in accordance witli the directions. We do not advortise for the information of those who have tried it but those who have not Families that have known its value will not be without it, and by its timoly use, they are secure from the dangerous consequences of Coughs and Colds which neglected, ripen into fatal consumption.

The Diploma of the Massachusetts Institute wasawarded to this preperation by the Board of Judges in September 1847 also, the Medals of the three great Institutes of Art, In this country also tho Diploma of the Ohio Institute at Cincinnati, has been given to the CiiKaav PECTOSAI., by their Government in consideration of its extraordinary excellence and usefulness in curidg affections of the Lungs and Throat.

Read the following opinion foundod on the long experience of the eminent Physician of the Port and ity of

Dr. J. C. Ayer,— ST. JOHNS, May, 8, 1851. Flvo years trial of your CHERRY PECTORAL! my practice, has proven what 1 foresaw from its composition, must be true, that it eradicates and cures the colds and coughs to which we, in this section, are peculiarly liable. 1 think its equal has not yet been discovered, uor do 1 know how abetter remedy can be made for the distempers of the Throat and Lungs.
