Gaest*. Editor of tSae New York
Tribune i« heartily sick of Whig Convention*.— We don't blame him. fie thus graphically describes the list convention, by which Gen. Scott was nominated. Hie picture i« well delineated and ^gubtless true, as it comes from a whig ediiot, who is one of the oracles of the party. It ain't our province at any rate to deny it. We copy the following extract:
Many honorable and eminent men have been deputed by the whig* of the several State* and Districts to meet at Baltimore and select a whig candidate for President. Along with these are tome of a different character, who have begged or intrigued for an appointment to the hope of making homethir.gout it—men bankrupt in politics in business and in reputation/*
And he further say*, in the anguish of his soul: ••When things *re at the worst, they can't help mending if they change at all and we chertalMhe joyful hope thst the tery last Whig Notional Convention a«fjouro* to day."
We trust so too the only regret to the country, is, that the la*t one ever assembled.
Mr. Gentry, whig M. C. from Teon., said in Congres* on Monday— -If I thought one man** vote or influence were necessary to cast the vote of Tennessee for Pierce and King, my voice and my vote should be given to them unhesitatingly.'
This we»uppose is in the event of the nomina* lion of (Jen Scott.—Ball. Argut.
The whig press in summing up the sins of our nominee, among other things, Mate that Gen. Pierce's father was a poor man. of Irish descent, and without a hrtliiant education! Horrible!!—
Outrageous!!!—Bait.
Argut.
