LATTER FROM TKXAS.—The New Orleans PicnyuDs of the 28th, b#* r«s^%4 fil« OF P*PERS Irom Galveston to (he 24th, iocfosive. Oar Government at Washington is so intent on preserving our neutrality with Mexico, and prefcotmgwr citizens from joining the revolutionary party against that barbarous and tyrannical Government, that it has ordered Gen. P. F. Smith to u*e, the «m«ll force under his command, originally Mteoded to guard the Indian frontier, and to prottKwfche lives and property of our citizens, to prevent armed expeditions from crossing the Rio Grande to succor the insurgents in that country. The lives of American citizens, we presume, are but as chaff in the balance, in the eyes of this administration, compared to the invaluable lives of the uncivUtz«a minions of the tyrannical and domineering Mexican Government, that has, for so lone, lramp4et» in miserable subjects into the dust of degradation and oppression, Oh yWi it matters not that toe tomahawk and scalping knife of the savage threwen the lives of Americon women iheir little ones, so our treaty obligations are strictly enforc ed!—Madisonian. &

ANOTHER IHSVRASCB COMPANY WINDING UP.— We see by the Columbus (Ohio) Statesman and Journal that the second Insurance Company in that city (the Ohio Mutual) is in a very bad condition. During the last ten months of their business it has met losses to the amount of 107,0JO, and in the same period received $39,000, making a clear loss of #68,000 in ten months. The company has oeased taking risks. It is very doubtful as to whether it will be able to pay its losses.

RAILWAY Ino?t.—The Dayton Journal notices the arrival there of fifteen car loads of Railway iron from Sandusky city, for the Westorn tmd Greenville roads. An additional quantity of three hundred tons, for the same roads, is on the way from Toledo to Dayton, and sufficient iron for both roads will bo there before the navigation closes.— The road to Greenville will bo in readiness for the cars soon after the holidays.
