CENTENNIAL DIRECTORY.
A Canvass of This City Will Be Made For It. The GAZKTTE has several times contained items relative to the Centennial Directorv or register, the invention of Mr, J. H. Hughes, of this city. Within the past few days, Mr. Hughes has entered into articles of "agreement and partnership with soine of Terre llaute's most interprising voung men and intends to '"push things," as Grant would have it.
The work has already been copyrighted and otlice room secured in the centcnnial building.
The office is said to be one of the iincst. For fear some of the GAZETTE'S readers mav ha\e forgotten the design of this directory a description of it is herewith given, taken from the prospectus of the work. It says:
The Centennial Directory will contain the names of the greatest number of American and foreign visitors at the great "Centennial exposition giving the names, ages and address of each which, when complete, will be of especial interest iii after times. Besides the names of the Centennial visitors, it is proposed, by the compiler, to have along with that list, the names, ages, residences, etc., of a arge number of the citizens of everv citv ii UJUe United States.
The work-will be substantially bound, and placed in the Capital of every State and Territory, and with each Normal school in the United States where the books will be preserved as a souvenir of the Centennial year of our country. When complete the book will contain nearly one thousand pages, quarto size, and have number of very fine engravings, including a steel engraving of the centennial building.
In soliciting names for the Directorv no one will be charged over twenty five cents per name. The work will be eomplete by the first of January 1877 and will be promptly deposited in the places mentioned.
The design of the agent for the western States, is to canvass all of the principal towns for.names. The privilege of canvassing whole States, will be sold, so we are informed, to any energetic lady or gentleman, (lady preferred) who wishes to make the trial.
Miss Sallie Morgan, is making the canvass of this city, and has so far met with flattering success.
The fee charged is so small, and the plan such a good one, that the GAZETTV predicts extensive patronage for it.
BILL RUDIFER
His Companion Piece, "The Great American Pie-eater." Somebody yestesday perpetrated a good joke on Mr. John Gordon, of the Central Book Store, The large (and very handsome) photographs of him were placed in the two front windows of the store. One was labled "Bill Rudifer," snd the other''The great American pieeater." They remained in the window some time, attracting a good deal of attention before John discovered what was up.
Some persons shivered over the "Bill Rudifer" picture and remarked that "that fellow has a bad eye could tell in a minute he was wicked." Others thought he had a very blood-thirsty look, and adduced as proof his striking likeness to the man in the other window, "The great American pie eater," whom, they said, had become famous through his rapacity. Others there were who thought differently. 1, They denied the manly features of Kudifer, and wept that a man so closelv resembling him as "The great American pie eater" should descend to be a gourmand. Two street gamins were making money exhibiting the two monsters and dilating on their "points" (the thirst for gore on the part of one and for pie on that of the other) when Gordon appeared in the scene and made a motion for adjournment, sine die.
That Excursion-
On next Thursday the excursion to Texas, over the Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fc road, managed in this city by Grimes & Royse, will start. Among other Terre ilaute gentlemen Messrs. Jacob Miller, Eppinghousen, Charles joab and R. S. Tennent will make the trip.

CENTEUR LINIMENT.
So nearly perfect are the receipts is there wonderful pain-soothing and healing the Centaur Linimentss, that we can confidentially say they will ALLEVIATE ANY* PAIX arri.-ing from flesh, bone or muscled arangement. \Sre do not pretend that thev will mend a broken leg or EXTERMINATE BOILS, but ev"n in such cases they will reduce the and stop the pain. Xor can we guarantee the proper results where the bodv is POISONED BY WHISKY. Temperance is cccessary to a proper physir !), as mental condition,
TIIK WIIITE GENTAUR LIXIMFN is particlarly adopted to all oases of RAKUMAT ISM, Lumbago. Lcuralgia Erysypelao Itch, Sprines, Chillbluine, Cuts, Bruises, Stings, Poisons, Scalds, Scatica, Weak, Back, Pains in the side, Wounds, Weeping Sinews RXS. Frosted Feet, PALSEY. Ear ache, Ileod-acqe. Ulcers, Old sores, BrokcnBreasts, sore Xipples, Sore Throat Croup., Dyptheria, etc. The most of these complaints the Centaur Liniment will enre all of them it will benefit, It will EXTRACT the poison from bites and stings, and will cure BUSNS AXD SGALDS without a scar. The following is but a sample of a thousand testimonials:"
Atoch 111. Dec. 1 1S74.
''Mv wife has frr a long time been a terrible sufferer from Rheumatism. She has tried many Physicians and many remidies. The only thing which has given her relief is Centaur Liniment, 1 am rejoiced to say this has cured her.
W. II. RING, Postmaster."
THE YELLDW CENTAUR LINIEENT is adapted to the tough skin, muscles and flesh of the animal oreotion. Its effect upon severe cases of Spavin Sweeny, Wild Gal, Big Head, and Poll-Evoal, are little less than marvelous.
Messrs. J. McClure & Co. Druggists, cor. Elm and Ft out Streets, Cincinnati, G., says: "In our neighberhood a number of teamsters are using the Centaur Liniment They pronounce it superior to anything they have ever used. We sell as high as four or five dozed bottles per month to owners of horses oud mules."'
We have volumes of testimonial describing cures of Sprains, Kicks, Galls, Pool-Evil, Big-Head, and even Founders which are little less than marvels. No owner of an animal can afford to Be without a bottle of Centaur Liniment, which any day may prove worth twenty times its cost.
Sold everywhere, but prepared only at the Laboratory of J. B. Rose & Co. 43 Dev St. New York.
It is an indisputable fact that the Centaur Liniment effects cures never before peformed by any preparation in existence,—like Chronic Rheumatism of thirty years' standing, straightening fingers und. joints weicli had been stiff for six years, taking the soreness from burns, etc.
One dollar or even fifty cents, invested in Centaur Liniment will be within reach when an accident occurs, and will do more good than any amount of money paid for medical attendcnce. When physcians are called they frequently use this Liniment, and of course charge several prices for it.
CASTORIA.
Cross, sickly babies and children may jov health, and mothers have rest, if they will use Castoria. Worms, feverless, teething, wind colic sour stoniache. and undisgusted food, make children cross, and produces sickness.
Castoria will assimilate the food, expel worms, and correct all these things. For twenty years Dr. Pitcher experimented in his private practice to produce aneffective Cathartic and stoniache regulator which would be as effective as Castor oil, without its unpleasant taste or recoil.
The reputation of his experiment extended. Physicians and nurses rapidly adopted his remidy, to which he gave the name of Castoria.
