oently are those of New Zealand and Jamaica. The Chief of the bureau of Installation, Mr. Pettit, has been informed by the Messrs. Doulton of Lambeth, England, of their intention to erect a large and very handsome fountain in Tera Cotta, io feet high, in the British section. There will be no dearth of fountains and ice-water on the Centenuial grounds already application has been made for placing twenty or thirty large ones, among them a crystal glass one, which the Mount Washington Glass Works propose erecting, 17 feet high, the noticible features of which will be cast glass figures, one of them representing Columbia, and a number of cut glass pendants aud similar ornaments, varying greatly in finish and style.
It is espacted that an extremely interesting exhibition will be made in the two annexes which are now being built south of the main building The states of Deleware, Illinois Kentucky, Michigan, Mississippi, Ohio, the Archcelogical Society of Ohio, Wi?consin, Iowa, Indiana, Alabama, and Virginia have already taken steps for a thorough representation of their great mineral sources. It has not been definitely decided, as yet, whether the state of Pennsylvania will be-represented or not, as the State Legislature has failed to make appropriation for the purpose. Mr. Joseph Wilcox, of this city, who has devoted a grent many years to (he study of mineralogy, willl make a very interesting display in connection with the exhibit of the Smithsonean institute. The centennial authorities nave oeen informed by the state of Missouri, of her intention to errect a pavilion, 57 by 40 feet, but the site has not been allotted yet. A very handsome frame structure will be that of Pennsylvania, 101 by 71 feet, the building to be used as state headquarters Its situation is to te north of the eastern end of Machinery Hall. The ground for tho Virginia building, 50 by 40 feet, has been staked out east of the Kansas building, and work has been begun on the Deleware building. The foundations of the Jewish Restaurant, to be situated north west of the British building, are being laid, and it is thought that the restauraqt will be running on the opening day. The West Virginia and Arkansas buildings are well advanced, and the Massachusetts and New York buildings are nearly finished, and the exterior of each is being painted. A narrow gauge locomotive, to be exhibited by Porter, Ball & Co.,of Pittsburg, has been put together' in Machinery Hall, and stands on a short track, ready for exhibition It is very neatly finished iu all its parts, and attracts considera* ble attention. The State Architect of the state of California, Mr. Gordon P. Gumming?-, has arrived in this city to superintend the erection of the California and Pacific Coast Centennial Hall The buildiag will be 115 by 45 feet, aud 2'J feet high, with a dome 43 feet high. The interior will show a vista of architraves and aisles, with a transet through the center, to be fiuislied, as far as possible, with the native woods of the Pacific Coast, cedar laurel, pine etc,, The main hall will be S8 feet long and 45 in widely The remainder of the building will be divided into Po3t Office, Committee rooms etc.

The Centennial Lodging House Agencv, of 1010 Walnut street, is getting so many desirable rooms iu private families for lodging purposes, with breakfast and supper included, that some of the second rate lio'els are beginning to despair of being able to pack guests like- sardines through the season at. exhorbitaut rates. At learft,it looks as if such were the case, lor some of them have come down to SI per room per night, and agree to furnish meals at the usual restaurant rates.
The British Commission is constantly receiving fresh invoices of exhibits. The last arrival included five pieces of the America Group" in the Albert Memorial. It is well known that this famous work by the English sculptor, Bell, is iu terra cotta, the great artistic value or wnich is now recognized by both sculptors apd artists but it is not so well kneiwn that the group was uia!e by Mr. Doulton, at his potteries in Lambeth. This gentleman is the inventor of the ceramic ware known by his name, which bids fair to stand in the same relation to ihe southern portion of England that the wares of Josiah Wedgewood do to the nothern and midland sections Mr. Doulton is here to 8 iperiutend the placing of the group in Memorial Hall, where it is to occupy the place of honor, a position it well deserves. The "America Group" is not the only display of the distinguished manufacturer, for he lias 1100 objects
