rI liautc, Wlu reat the Logans])ort Papers got so Terribly Mad. The GAZETTE contained, some days ago, article from the Logansport Star, which revealed the proprietors to be hopping mad because the printing or tickets for the Red Men's ball, at that place was brought to Terre Hauto to be done. The following card of explanation appears in yesterday's issue: To the Editor of the Star:
SIR:—In justification of our action procuring our invitations and for the Red Men'B ball we request you to insert in y°l" that 110 other course remained open to us. Our own''Indian cut was spir ed away with the late Sun office fixtures, and failing in our efforts to nna it, wo wrote to Terre Haute to ProcuJ® its counterpart, only to be formed that we could only have the benefit 01 it by having our printing exeeutea there, the cut being the property of Hebb & Wigley, printers. The amount of time consumed in these negotiations left us no alternative, the cut being the "crest" of the X. O. R. M. hopef the explanation will remove all prejudice in this matter.

To the editor of the Express we tender our sympathy, for he COPIED AFTER THE ENQUIRER, and was a strong advocate of its financial ideas, but he was badly beaten, for money in his case was mightier than the pen.

Havens, who, you will remember, took part in the last State election in Ohio has far surpassed the expectations of his best friends a3 a writer, and the manner in which the Journal is gaining ground under his editorial control and Its new proprietorship speaks well for himselfand his managing partner, Mr. Grimes. It would not be right, while speaking of newspapers, if I did not say one word as a plaudit of that grand old paper, the Cincinnati Enquirer. It was the first newspaper I ever read in fact, it taught me to read, as I was so fortunate in my early youth as to live outside of tue shadow of a school house and to it I say God speed in your fight for the people—tne poor people. contained last 'fall an
account of the ludicrous afifair de coeur between Louis Joslin and bis brother's wife, Delilah Joslin, who ran away from home in the neighborhood of Riley, leaviDg the children locked up in the house, their demise in mystery, and themselves in each others arms. Mr. David Josliu, the injured busband did nothing whatever in the matter, wisely concluding that if his wife wished to leave him she might do so. About a week ago he received a letter from the truant woman, postmarked Casey, Illinois. She said that herself and Louis had been married shortlv after reaching Casey, and were still living together, but that she wanted to come back to see her children. She remarked, pathetically, that God had forgiven them and that'she wantad him to do the same, that they might all meet in heaven and discuss politics together. He declined to give the desired iorIRiveness, and the woman has not been heard from since.
