A QUESTION OF BECEirCT. Rev. E. Prank Howe writes auonymously to tho Journal, a criticism upon tbe Express for it9 defense of Mrs. Ricliings Barnard's troupo from the charge of indecency. We are informed that Mr. Howe was not. present at the performance of that troupe, and consequently he is not supposed to know anything about the question at issue. There does not seem to be any reason for his entering into tbis discussion, unless it De to gratify a small private spite. He says: "Of course writers who enjoy the indecency, and judge the public by their own taste, will langh and S&3', 'To the pure all things are pure but their sneer is a higher commendation than even words of praise from the lovers of purity."
While Mr. Howe is discussing the subject of decency, Ave would like for him to tell the public what he thinks of tbe decency that would permit a minister of the gospel to write tbe malicious and vicious part of "Town Talk," of the Aiail, for years, while avoiding the responsibility for its authorship, by numerous falsehoods to members os his congregation and to other citizens?

The following extiact from the Lafayette Journal in regard to the inimitable Kelley & Loon, need no- comment
The entertainment given by Kelley & Leon and their excellent company last night at the Opera House was well patronized. The lower floor of the building was filled to itscapaci ty. The music both vocal and instrumental, was. excellent. The Skidmore Guards, under command of Captain Lester gave an exhibition drill which discounted any thing that has yet been done by the Lafayette Guards. The Queen of Trumps, by the Ouly Leon, was excellent, and showed some fine acting. Norma on the Half Shell was well rendered and brought down the house. Walters and Morton, in their song and dance acts, were acknowledged to have been the best ever seen in thfe city. The Two OflMJns was a roaring affair. Kelly & Leon can always get a crowded house in this city, for the reason that they give a firat-claes entertainment, all of which is free from old stale gags and vulgarity too common with minstrel shows.

MANY a lady of fashion, even in courtcirclea. may well envy thecharming Mrs. Tom Thumb and her wee sister, Miss Minute Warren, for the great variety and magnificent rich* ness of their dresses, to say nothing of the more princely display of diamonds of the first water, which an outlay of ten thousand pouudssterling h«s secured these charming little ladies from the Greatf Republic. But "hansome is he who bansome does", is the true old proverb' and all who witness the performances of these most captivating miniature laeies' aided by the heroic General Tom Thumb and the inimitaple Major Newell, will unite in saying that their enterlianmen) is as surprissng and delightful as it is bewitching and extraordinary.

First, because he is engaged in other business at which he can make a living, and which furnishes his rent free: Second, because he sells such large quantities of tbe blacs diamond. Third, because he has been in ihe business along time, and is fully up to the wishes, and fourth, because he believes in small profits and quick sales.
