St. Ann's Catholic Orphau Asylum, th it "has so long constituted one of the most interesting and commendable features of the civilization of \iucennes. will o-day be removed to Terre Haute. The iai hful Sit-ters that have devoted their whole strength to the noble work of watching over and guiding the tender minds, and pure lives ol the little orphans will bear with them the earnest prayers and kind remembrances of many worthy citii^ns ot Yin'3enn**s.
Is a wide spread ieelmg of re-
cret among the people that it has become necessary to remote the Asylum to another city. All had learned to resnect and love the dear orphanF, Many a warm tear startsd from its resting acp and coursed down furrowed cheeks-many a heart softened and bitter prejudices yielded as the orphan's process en moved po quietly and modestly ".long our streets.
It was an insu.utiou that we might well have felt proud of, as well as loved- for ii stdo tin our midst as a monument of true charity and genuine lelieioo and if the troubled he*-rt is ever comforted, or the sufferings of the sick ever subdued by the prayers of the good and pure, we should be disposed to place our highest trust in the earnest, fervent prayers of the little «r-
May Heaven bless them,- and the people of Terr Haute love and cherish them, is our prayer.
IN an article on the building prospects ol Terre Haute for the .coming year the Journal mentions a number of structures which will be put up, of which tho fol owing, have not yet appeared in this paper:
Richard Dunugan will erect a brick block O'.t the northeast corner of Chestnut and Fourth streets.
J. A. Parker &CJ. inten I iilding a new moulding room fac.ng First street before a great while.
H. Fairoaukw will build a brick residence on .South Fourth street. We understand Capt. Eotter is making arrangements to have new. Irouts placed in his business buildings on Fourth street, between Main and Ohio.
Samuel Art her will build a brick blook on the corner of Cherry and Fourth streets.

Now, it seems to me tuat he is very hard to please but no difference. I must say to T. The most surpriSino instance of human frailty that has fnilen under cur observation for a long time, ia shown in the disappearance of Will ed, of the llrm of Rjed & Dearn, dealers in queensvare, and Adatuslixpress agent at this place. He left town on the 9 ^'clf ck express train, Fr iy nighr, without notifying any of his friends of his intention.
It seems that his business vonture in the queensvvare trade was not a success, and it was evident lo the iirin that they could not met their maturing indebtness, and that an assignment for the benefit of their creditors was inevitable. In the midst ol this financial trouble be left, ridine: in the express car in company wiih Mr. Ceo: Hill, and getting off the train at the Main Street crossing in Terre Haute, since which nothing has been seen of him
It has subsequently appeared that on the evening before he left, the First National Bank deposited in the express office a package containing twen-ty-five hundred dollars, for transmission to a Cincinnati bank. Not receiving any. acknowledgement for its re mittatice, the bank instituted inquiries, when it appeared there was no entry on the books of the package. Reed is supposed to hava taken tlu mon«y. His bondsmen are R. M. Griffith, David Crawley and Dr. Crowder. We learn that his mother has voluntarily secured them against loss.
Up to the time of his disappearance no young man stood higher in the estimation of the community generally than Will Reed. We are exceedingly reluctant to believe in his guilt, yet his conduct and the circumstances seem to render it a foregone conclusion.
Wail of the VFhiinsrdoole. From the Evanevllle Journal. Mr. James Countryman is representing Evansville with cheerful perseverance in the Terre Haute Police Court. ID is a sad fact that any respectable man will got ruined by going to Terre Haute.

A VALUABLE BOOK. From the Lafayette Daily Courier. Dr. 11. V. Pierce, of Buffalo, distinguished in surgery, and the general profession he honors, has made a valuacontnbution to the medical literature of the day, in a comprehensive woik entitled "The People's Common Sense Medical Adviser." While sientilii throughout, it is singularly free from technical and stilted terms. It comes right down to the common sense of every-day life. Dr. Pierce is a noble specimen of American manhood. He has sprung from the people and, with many sympathies in common with tb& masses, has sought to render them a substantial service in this the great work of his life*

Lafayette Mallory, city coal contractor, sells his coal cheap from a number of reasons, all plausible and sensible. First, because be is engaged iu other business at which be can make a living, and which furnishes his rent free. Second, because he sells such large quantities of tLe blac.5 diamond. Third, because he has been in the business a long time, and is fully up to the wishes, atid fourth, because he believes in small profits and quick sales.
