Yincetines vs. Terre Haute Catching Robinson Trade.

COpfra!ive Stores in That Locality Fall Flat and tbe grangers are Disconsolate.
To the Editor of the Evening Gazette: ROBINSON, ILLS., January 3,187G.
This place bade farewell to that por tion of past time known as 1875# by excursing to her neighbor over the river, Vincennes. Something over twenty of the.city's patriarchs young and.old, in company with Receiver Eads and Pres ident Sand ford, went down the new end of the line to sample the intervening line and Yincenne3 tortuous. Tbe party went in very good trim the friendly shades of night hid any little aberrations occurring on tiie return. It never rains but it pours almost simultaneously with. the. completion of tbe road came the dispatch announcing the refusal of the district court to sustain the injunction placed on the collection of the $55,000 in bonds, issued to enable the. company, to obtain the necessary iron. In order- to issue the, bonds it was necessary to file an indemnifying bond, on which-were half a hundred of the solid men of the'town If the injunction placed by the green eyes of. Palestine had been sustained, those half hundred -worthies would have been so much the lighter in pocket.
Crawford County has .dividad her substance liberally with the souless technically known as the Paris & Danville R:R. .Co., the company is $188,000 better off.from the contribution of this country.
Robinson has north and south egress now over the line east and west exit by the Vandalia, and the lines north by the O. fc M., on the south. The key to this isihit she has the advantage of competing linessince the O. & M:, is a Baltimore & Ohio road. For any trading done at th^-ootfnties^f her neighbors, .tbe""choice lies between Terre Haute and'Vincennes, with but the advantage of "irtore. houses and larger and better stocks on the part of Terre Haute* I beard it estimated that the county has turiied oil 20,000 pork-, ers. From "wBat I know and have learned, I infer Only a small per cent of the hogs twirled their tails on a line leading through} he Prairie City. If there are any pannings iii the hog trafflic she ought to get- the lions share.
The impression is rife among .the farmers of the^bailiwick that om of Robinson's necessities is a set of com-1 petent grain buyers, ones that havesufficient capital fb carry on trade-with, safety. People-have had all the experience in-*seHing on credit to strangers that tbry'desire. It will be fortunate if this placo secures a substantial set of grain.men in the start. A sot pf sharks generally effectually kills the trade of a place in. a short time. I bayQ.in mind a.town on the Vandalia jthat, .iu a year or two after the road was
