That's the Kind of a Ticket Mr. Hart Didn't Want Bat Got, This afternoon a telegram was received at the Union Depot from Dennison Station, 111., from Mr. Volker, a druggist there, asking for the arrest of a man named E. Hart, described as a lean, lank, turnip-eater with a bad eye. It is strange considering that reporters for both tbe Express and Journal were on the ground, that they were not taken up by umtakaon this description still they were not, and on the contrary, the exact man wanted was detained. Mr. Girdner telegraphed back for Mr. Volker to come on, arid he wilj probably arrive here this evening. Hart says that he owes Volker ?7 tor jewelry, and that he was on his way to the Buckeye State.
the performance of the Wallace Sisters the Chicago Tribune has this to say:
Notwithstanding the horrible weather, a very large audience assembled at the Academy of Music last evening to witness the initia performance of "Minnie's Luck or tbe Ups and Downs of New York Life," by the Wallace Sisters, Jennie, Minnie aud Maud. The drama is a good one, of the sensational order, emanating from tbe fertile pen of John Brougham, the celebrated dramatist, and was received with marked approbation and unstinted applause by the audience. MissJennie, as Minnie &ocfc and Clara Willoughby, a duiil role made a decided hit, her pretty face aud sparkling acting gaining at once the tnorongh good will of the audience. Misses Minnie and Maud, tbe little ones, gained fresh laurels by their very clever personation of the characters of Inky Dick, a printer's devil, and Spotty, a newsboy, iu which they introduce several songs and dances, and most artistic clogdance, which was thrice encored. The company supporting the \V allace Sisters is a strong one:
The other theaters were not very well attended, the unfavorable condition of the weather affecting them, as might be expected.

Bret Harte en Beath Rates. Bret Harte was lecturing in Pennsylvania a short time ago. At one of his appointments he felt very much depressed. It is a peculiarity of humorists, we are told, to be unaccountably melancholv and gloomy atl times. Harte was'in tills moocl now. Oue~ of the committee went in back ot the scenes to see him, and the depressed humorist welcomed-him as agleam of unusual good sU'nshine. They shook hands-^Harte earnestly, and the com-mittee-man decorously. "Mr. Harte," he said, gravely, "you will find this an unusually healthy city."
said the pleased humorist.
"Yes. The death rate is only one a day." At this juncture Harte took the com-mittee-inau by the arm, and hurriedly asked: "Is he dead?" "Dead!" ejaculated the committeeman, "Who dead?" "Why, the man for to-day," was tbe grave reply.
Tho committee-man stared with all his might into tbe immovable face of the lecturer. "Isn't there a clerk here, or a Registrar, or Coroner, or something like that, of whom you cpuld find out if a mail tor this day has died?" "Whyj yes, I suppose so," slowly replied the committee-man. "Would you be so good, then, as to find out, and before I commence the lecture, Ifpossible, whether that man is dead? If he is dead, then I am all right, for I am to leave the city early to-morrow morning but if he isn't dead I can not help but feel uneasy about myself, and! I am not well tonight."
The kind-hearted committee-man immediately hurried away to get the information.
When in his room at the hotel that night, a servant told him that a gentleman wished him to step down stairs in tbe ball, as he wanted to see him. Mr. Harte went down and there met the committeeman. 'I am sorrv, Mr Harte, to disturb you," he said, "but I could not get that information earlier. It is all right. That death rate I spoke of was merely the average."—[Danbury News.
