Ihe Firemen's Complaint. Yesterday's GAZETTE contained a complaint furnished us by some firemen, who feel that Geo. Yost ought not to be returned back to his position in the lire department, after having been discharged on account of drunkenness. Councilman Philip Schloss, Chairman of the Fire Committee, desires us to make this statement: Billy Hunter was found drunk three or four times before he was discharged. At the last time he was caught dead drunk, in a house of ill fame, by the police, and was dragged out and placed in the station house. Upon this he was promptly discharged. Mr. Bchloss admits that it was a bad precedent not to have discharged him on the first occasion, but inasmuch as he was not, the committee do not think it justice to discharge Yost on his first offtense. Yost was caught just as stated pleaded guilty to the charge, admitting everything, and was suspended, and at the same time it was thoroughly impressed on his mind that in the event of a new offense his bead would instantly go off.. As to the caso of Jack Clark retfered to by'he Express, Mr. Schloss has this to say. He did not spend two nights with his friends at No. 1 house, but a whole week, and that, after he had been warned that it was against the rules. Mr. Schloss, furthermore, states that he is getting tired of making explanations of every move the committee takes in order to satisfy some petty employee of the department.

"O wearisome condition of humanity!" How many wretched homes in our land! How rsany heart-broken invalids! Life with many signifies a mere onerous existence. All are subjects to disease, but when health is removed, the hope is nearly gone out. Sickness is usually incurred through exposure and carelessness. Especially is this true with those diseases peculiar to woman. Through her own imprudonce and folly she is made to drag out a miserable existence—a source of annoyance and anxiety to her friends, and anything but a comfort and pleasure to herself. Exposure to the cold at times when she should be most prudent, and overtaxing her body with la borious employment, are both fruitful causes of many of the maladies from which she suffers. Gradually the bloom leaves her cheeks, her lips grow ashy white, her vivacity departs, she continually experiences a feeling of weariness and general languor, and altogether presents a ghostly appearance. What does she need? Should
Bbe
take
some stimulating drug, which will lor the time make her "feel better," or does her entire system demand reparation? She requires something which not only will restore to ^health the diseased organs, but will tone and invigorate the system. Dr. Pierce's Favorite Prescription will do this. It imparts strength to the diseased parts, brings back the glow of health and restores comfort where previously there was only suffering.
Every invalid lady should send for "The People's Common Sense Medical Adviser," in which over fifty pages are devoted to the consideration of those diseases peculiar to women. It will bo sent, post-paid, to any address, for ?1.50. Address, R. V. Pierce, M. D.f World's Dispensary, Buffalo, N. Y.' Agents wanted to sell this valuable work.
