The Big Bonanza.

The Selden Irwin combination were greeted by a poor house last evening^ at the Opera House but what the audi, enca lacked in number it made up in appreciation.

The drama of the Big Bonanza, which was presented for the first time in Terre Haute, is full of ffun and sparkle, and keeps the audience in a good humor from the beginning to the end. There is no heavy villian, no tempesttossed, despairing young man or woman. Everybody is funny.

Mr. Harry Raintorth as Prof. Cadwalder, was excellent in make-up and action.

Mr. Irwin as Bob Ruggles, gave a faithful picture of the careless, easygoing young fellow who believes in taking care of the present and allowing the fnture to take care of itself.

Mr. Townsend was easy and natural jn his personation of Jonathan Cadwallader, the good natured banker, who seems to be the good fairy of the play,

Uncle Ryrnple, by Mr. St. Clair, was well played in every way. In Jack Lymar many cfour theatre goers reccgnized Mr. T. S. Hollaud, formerly connected with the Fanny B. Price troupe. Mr. Holland is an excellent actor, and made all that could be made eut of the bashful young doctor

Mr. Hernandez, as the exquisite De Hass, hatl a capital make-up and created much merriment.

Mrs. Irwin as Eugenia presented a very pretty picture of the young Miss justoutof boardingschool, who finds herself in love for the first time in her life.

Miss Haziep, Miss Mantello, Miss Parker, and in fact, all who appeared in the drama, acquitted themselves to the satisfaction of every body.

The Big Bonanza is ono of those exquisite dramas which has not a bad part in it. Every part, from the highest to the lowest, is good. Those who fail to see this most excellent company to-night will miss an opportunity to see the moat enjoyable of all modern dramas.

At the matinee this afternoon, the company will present the Two Orphans, and at the night performance, The Big Bonanza will be repeated.

Naughty Nellie.

Sheriff Wunderlich, of Vanderburg county, passed through this city yesterday, en route from Indianapolis, whither he had gone to conduct Nellie Spencer,, the Evansville female tbief. He says Nellie was not at all pleased with the appearance of the reformatory institution for recreant females, which is located in the Capital City, and to whose tender mercies the fair Nellie has been doomed for a term of years. She declared she wpuld not enter such a place, or if she was compelled to enter, she would take the first opportunity to escape. The good Sheriff and the matron of the institution reasoned with the recreant young woman for a long time without good result. But before the Sberifl left Indianapolis Nellie was reconciled to her fate, and had concluded to serve out her term and reform.

Disappeared.

A young girl by the name of Mary Parker, disappeared from the residence of Dr. Read, on Monday last. Sne had been living in the family for some time. Since that time nothing has been heard from her. She has black hair and eyes, and a dark complexion was dressed in a red and white flannel dress, black check apron, button gaiters, and white stockings. The friends of the girl are very anxious about her, and any one knowing her whereabouts will confer a favor by leaving the information at the house of her uncle, Wm. Hanlon, near the rolling mill, or with A. G. Robinson, N. E. corner of Third and Mulberry.

FOR as large an assemblage as it was, the exceeding quietness of the rifle match of the Yandalia team was remarkable. The men composinga large part of tbe membership of this team are the bone and sinue not only, but the brain of the city. Quiet, orderly, industrious, and'intelligent, they are the best class of citizens with which a place can be populated.

THE blood, about a half gallon from each hog, will be hauled away from the Early slaughter house in wagons, instead of being allowed to run into the river as formerly, before the water works were built. No one need fear that an.'y offal from this house will get into the river, at all now.

THE Big Bonanza is the funniest and best of all modern dramas.
