Condition ©f the Wounded Man.

A difficulty occurred last night at tho establishment of Messrs. Moore it Uagerty, in which Thomas Haggert, a plumber in the employ of that firm, received a wound which is likoly to prove very serious. Theodore Dolle, who is also in the employ of tho firm above mentioned, became engaged in a discussion with Ilaggert concerning some work, in the course of which Dolle became very much excited and used some very rough language. Haggert told Dolle to keep away from him as ho did not wish to bavo any difliculty with him. Dolle suddenly soizsd a largo filo and aimed a vicious blow at Haggert, striking him in the groin. The sharp point of tho lile entered the flesh several inches, inflicting a verj7 painful and dangerous wound. Haggert was carried to tho residence of Dan Dean, North Third street, where be boards. Drs. Link and Reado were called and dressed tho wound. Officers Downey, Chris. Meyer, Hogan and Gibson, had a lively time in tho search for Dolle, who had escaped as soon as the deed had been commuted. He was finally captured by Officers Downey and Gibson, on Main street. He was very drunk at the time. He claimed that Hag'gert had followed and provoked him to the deei but this statement is contradicted by all who saw the af fray. Thomas Haggert is a Scotchman uy birth. He came to this country when quite young, and settled in Boston, where he learned tho trade ol a plumber.

Ho came to this city about two years ago and has since been working at his trade. He is quiet and gentlemanly in his bearing toward others and is not at all quarrelsome.

A GAZETTEER visited the house of Mr. Dean, where the wounded man lies, this mornining. He had been resting very well for several hours The wife of Dolle was in the room with Mr. Haggert, pleading for her hus band's forgiveness. Dolle has a wife and five children, who are depennent on him for support. Mr. Haggeit has two sons, one of whom is with him. the other is at school in Knightsvills.
