been in operation over four years, during which period, though its pnwnrss has bpf-n impeded by the adverse years of 1854 and 1757, the practicability of th» plan has been clearly demonstrated. That the house affords superior advantages to the WOOL GROWERS OF THR WEST, as a medium for passing their wm)1s into the hands ot the mituufacturer, is now no longer a question. But nit bough vciy large number of Wool Growers hare availed themselves of these advantages during the last four years, yet, surprising as it may appear to many, our receipts have been larger from Merchants and Wool-buyers than from Wool-growers, and this may be accounted for mainly from the fact, that, as a class, Wool-grow-ers have been more easily influenced and misled than the former, bv the statements of a few operators who are wholly opposed to all efforts having for their object the systematitingof the wool trade or the enhancement of price# to the producer.

The past year, characterised as it has been by the most disastrous financial embarrassmen1s« has: been one of the roost unfortunate for negotiating and managing sales of wool, and the fact that the entejpriae has been remarkaWy snccossfully, not withstanding these disadvantages, and given almost universal satisfaction to consignors, should we 'Jrink, inspire sufficient confidence to induce large consignments from wool-growers.

To those who have been prejudiced by false ro mors, and who have manifi'sted a want of confi denca w* hare frequently made advances eqnal to he price they have been offered for their wool.— Sach advances, however, should not be requited as the enterprise was started

for

than they can obtain by any other method,. and would, we trust, become permanent friends of the enterprise. At this House, the
