We heard of one sal above 96—the price* still range from 95 to $5,75 and very seldom to 96, only for extra lots. One small lot sold for 96,15.

About Christmas all the houses will be through packing. Some think that Terre Hante, with all her money, will not pack over 30,000 bogs. We think it extremely doubtful whether it goes to that number or not, from the reasons above given.

CORK.--We

heard of a sale of several

hundred bnshols of corn, yesterday, at 40 cents, and the purchaser is to gather it in the field. Corn is undoubtedly coming up, and holders are asking from 40 to 50 cents, with a good prospoet of getting even better priced than these*

one night which had been washed out daring the day, and was not quite dry. I awoke next morning with a sore throat, which has continued «rer bioce.

Tbe result is, he has had to abandon his theological stadias, and place himself under treatment, after having lost two. years' time.

H. M. writes: "1 went to deep on warm day on the top of an ice box, and have never been well since."

He shortly after died of consumption. T. H. took a very severe cold, con ver. sation was laborious, hot he had an ap pointment to preach, and he felt that he most fulfil it. He made the attempt, bnt bis utterance was attended with a pricking pain in the throat, and then a dull hurting came on in the throat, with sobseqaent 'hemming* and fruitless 'clearing/ He was prematurely disabled. A modest man walked until quite fatigued, and perspiring freely, entered an omnibus, and sat next to a lady who opened a window to get some fresh air ffr herself. He soon became chilled and was ill for three weeks.

H. P. got op at night and hoisted the window to jook at a burning^house the cold air started in on the unprotected body just from a warm bed. A twelve-months' illness resulted in dropsy.

A strong, hearty man came in on a hot summer's day, immediately took off his coat and hat, and sat in the open window, looking out upon a beautiful garden, over which the ocean breeze came to fan him. Before be was aware of it he was attacked with inflamation of the lungs, and died within a week

A delicate yonng lady, an invalid, a patient of ours, in an excnnsion with several others, was "overtaken" by nightfall, and by a young gentleman. They were in a boat and the boat was in the mud, the tide having gone out on a visit to the sea, and "there they were," a mile from shore, and several miles from home that mile was extraordinarily lhng and short. Only think of itl A wholo mile over a Jersey flat—covered with water, mud and bnlrnshes—carrying in the arms a young lady of eighteen, with one of the sweetesj voices, faces and forms to be seen in or out of Jersey. Bt spattered with mud, dripping with fog and dew and slush, steaming with perspiration, and wearied with hunger, thirst and fatigue, delighted and excited with the novelty of the tinng, they reached home at midnight.1 The next day she "didn't have anything the matter with her at all." Why? She bad takon lessons from us. Instead of taking

and shnwl,

a cool place, or instead of undressing at once, and thus letting the air check the perspiration, she went into a warm room, closed the doors aud windows at the same moment, laid aside the garments one by one, at intervals, and when cooled off, in the course of half an hour, retired to a sound sleep and a healthful awakening.

Another man rode three miles with a little child sleeping en his lap, which, pressing against his stomach, caused unnmual warmth there. It was a chill, raw November evoning. In walking a bundrnd yards to the house, the child moving slowly and the wind blowing, the whole abdomen wa» chilled in a moment. The next morning he awoke with the ominous pains of peritoneal inflamation, which is often fatal in thiee or four days.

A man had somo accounts to draw off in mid-winter. It was a cold night He *waf» greatly interested time wetit. and the fire too. He felt a little chilly, bat thought be would soon be done that it was not worth while to rebuild the fire.-— It was near one o'clock before he left for home, and he reached it most thoroughly chiHod. Next morning h$.had pneumonia and never got well.
