TAXES.—It is estimated that a State tax of 40 or 50 cents on the $100 most be lev* ied by the Legislature to meet the necessities of the Treasury for the present year. If the levy be deferred till next year, the assessment must be from 60 to 70 cents on the hundred dollars, which will be a heavy burden upon the people, especially if it should be a bad crop this year.

Our beautiful store rooms, NEWLY fitted np, in NEW style, to do business on a NEW plan, are now fall of SEW and Elegant Staplo and Fa»cy Dry Goods, toW sold at prices N E W toTerre-Hante. It is a weltlcnowu fact that we were the first to cut down prices rmd profit* in this oky. We never would knowingly permit ar.y house to sell at a luuxrprice or less profit than ours. Only a few years ago you had to pay from 30 to 40 per cent, profit on your goods. We are now, (by our new system,) enabled to mak^ money in selling you BETTER goods, bought at LOWI^R prices, for ten per cent, profit. That you may better understand how this is done, we here Mate that on the first of this month we commenced on our rute system- of eelling exclusively FOR CASH. By buying for CASH, acd selling for CASH, we expect to make money at 10 per cent, profit, and we venture to say that no. other house in 'JPerre-Haute ever diet or eves pretended to sell a Stock of 2)*y Goods at such a prqfii. As fur facilities for buying goods, we take it that Mr. CASH ia the bestbttjfer. Ms buys our go-ids. With cask and thirteen years experience, we flatter ourselves that we qan tape as outch in buying as any one. We have the proof to offer you that it is so Will you have it If so^ drop in under ths sign of the big T, and we will show yon

Our arrangements are so made with Mannfacttu rcrs and Agents of Staple Goo ls, that we can within ten days duplicate any article we sell so if we make by t^e sale 5 por cent, we are ont hot ten days time. The E\V SYSTEM is the plan for cheap giods, as all will see by lookiug through our Stock. We are proud to show our goods, whetlior we sell or not.
