WOTICF. TO TAX PAYERS.

BY

DIRECTION OF THE COMMON COUNcil I hereby publish the following sections of tho City Charter relative to the collection of Corporation Taxes, and notify the tax pnycM that I will execute the provisions to tlie letter.

SEO 45. The clerk, under the diroc'.ion of Ihe common council shall proceed to make out he tax duplicate for the current rear, mid on or before the first Monday of August ol such year, shall deliver the same with a warrant under the corporate seal, signed bv the Mayor and atbsted by such Clerk, attached thereto, to the Treasurer ofsu.'h city, directing him that of the goods and chaltlcg of all and every person named in said duplicate, and of "all persons whose names shall be added thereto by him'shall cansc te be mode, by distft.es and sale, if necessary, then mount I tux charged against each of said persons named in ,sai 1 duplicate.

Sec, 46. If no goods or chatties can be found ont of which to make the tax charged against any person nsmed on such duplicate, the Treasurer •hall sell any lot or land, or so much thereof as shall be necessary, listed to such person, to pay the tax, with costs thereon, and the trcasuret's certificate to the purchaser shall state for what tax or taxessaid lot or parcel of land was sold.

SKO. 47. All taxes upon real estate shall, front the time the tax duplicate is completed, be a Hen thereon to the same extent a* a judgment of a court of record, and shall have preference to any private charges upon the samc^and all raxes uprtfi personal property shall hatri preference of er all prlvste claims. 8EC.48. The treasurer shall not required in anj instance to make a demand of taxes from the person chargrd therewith, bat mayt in hi* discretion, do so and if any person charged with a poll tax upon any personal property, or any tax upon*' teal estate/shall fail when called on to payt he feame, it shall be lawful for said treasurer to since the f,ooda and chattels of such defaulter forthwith.
