A#"" The Journal is now abusing Mr. Davso bacanae, tt aaya, he "voted to keep abolitioniat Lew Campbell in bis eeat and moved to postpone the iavestigatio» of the Flo£-TJgIy riots of Baltimore.^ 't i»4s*l 1*..« fit?

Now vib want every body to notice that Mr. Darn did all this at the last session of Congress, yet in the face ol it all the Democratic county convention that met in this place about two months ago, decidedly endorsed him. And then we want it knows also, that the editor of the Joarnai was a member of that Convention. Thus it seems that this endorsement was intended to lay the foundation for the re-election to Congress of a mam who had "voted to keep the abolitionist Lew Campbell in his seat and moved to postpone the investigation of the Plog-Ugly riot of Baltimore. Has the Journal editor no place for a blush upon his cheek v*: a

t3T The Journal complains of Col. Thompson for having, as it says, read the anti-LecomptonDemocrats out uf tbe Democratic party. The Journal is mistaken and has ovidently been imposed upon, for Coli Thompson did no such thing. He did state, however, that the Washington Union, which is the organ of Mr. Bnchannn, published every day within a stone's throw of the White House, had declared that all antfoLecotttptdn Democrats were factionists, traitor* to Democracy, and even worse than that. Does the Journal deny the authority of Mr. Buchanan to proclaim to the country through his own organ what Democracy is Let it answer. We shall gather together in a few days, a few of these «M-1ng9 for the benefit of our neighbors, ii)si?bope that th*y will get ready to Id! ur wfcat they think of them. i«

Tfc® Queen's Message Completed. It appears Ihatjib Queen^ HaCfage, as first trans milted, was incomplete, j|jfe4 co»aeqnently the President's Moleagoin aoawer to it may not be as appropriate as it otherwise would have been. Fortunately However it was retained at Trinity Bay, and now, that the Queen's menage has been received entire, it will be still retained until it can be ascertained whether he desires to make any changes in it.

The criticisms of the press did injustice to Victoria,at least in relation to the length of her message, if not in relation to its lit•rary merit, and tbe jubilant demonstrations made in honor of its receipt were somewhat premature. Hie following telegraphic Bews will explain the reason of the mistake.

TRIXITY BAT, Aug. 17—M.

The Qneen's message was not completed till 5 o'clock this morning. It was commenced yesterday, but during its reception the operator at Valentia, Ireland, desisted sending it in order to make some slight repairs to the cable through a mistake the part received was sent South to the President, as if it contained the whole messsge. The following is the Queen's message to the President:

Queen's Heiwfe.

VALENTIA, Ireland, via Trinity Bay. Qon. The President of the United States: —Her Majesty desires to congratulate the President upon the successful completion of this great Internatioual work, in which the Queen has taken the greatest interest. The Qae&n is convinced that the President will join with ber in fervently hoping that the electric cable which now connects Great Britain and the United States, will prove an additional link between the nations, whose friendship is founded upon their common interests find reciprocal esteem. The Queen has much pleasure in thus communicating with the President, and renewing to him her wishes for the peace and prosperity of the United States

The President*s reply to the Queen is detained at the telegraph office here, a waiting his instructions, whether it is to bo reconsidered in foil, under the circumstances. The operatives are waiting the President's answer.

The Atlantic Telegraph. To tht Associated Press: ST. JOHN'S, N. P. Aug. II. On Wednesday before I left London, the Directors of the Atlantic Telegraph Company unanimously directed that after the cable was laid, and the Queen's and President's message were transmitted, the line should be kept free for several weeks solely for the us© of Dr. Whitehousc Prof. Thompson and other electricians, to enablo them to thoroughly test the various modes of telegraphing, so that the directors might decide which was the best and most rapid manner for future use for it was considered that after tbe line should be once thrown open to business, it would be very difficult to obtain it for experimental purposes, even for a short time.— Due notice will be given when the line will be ready for business and of the tariff of prices. CYROS. W FIELD.

ANOTHER FOKQKRY.—Tho State Sentinel publishes the following as the first despatch from the Queen to the President, with the answer from the latter. Of course the Ledger will denounce it as a forgery*. Queen Victoria to President Buchanan, Greeting: ft *'f |§t

PLAGIARISM.—The N. Y. Tribune, tho great preacher for tho rights of Authors, it appears has stolen a work written by J. Bentwright, and published by Geo. With our present force we can so grade our sthool as to secure the many advantages .»f a division of labor, not the least of which i», tbnt the several teachers w«ll preside over those departments of study most congenial to themselves, in which they are most practised, and which, therefore, they are best fitted to teach.
