The contract with Jamas Baird for curbing Ohio street between firat street and tha river, was submitted, and on motion was confirmed and ordered to be executed.

The Contract with Jsa. Baird for grading and graveling 5th street, between the W. 4 E. Canal aud Lafayette street, submitted, and on motion was confirmed and ordered to be executed.

On motion of Mr. Haney, it was re solved that the Marshall be allowed one

deputy. The Marshall proposed the name of Samuel Dod*ou for deputy, who was accordingly confirmed by the Council.

On motion of Mr. Tousey, the Council adjourned until Thursday evening, May
