A eplendid bill is presented to-night, for the benefit of Mrs. O. W. Blate, consisting of the 3d aad 4th acts of "JJacbcth, Mr. Chaplin appearing as Macbeth. liss Denham as Heccde, and Bella Adams as Lady Macbeth to be followed by the laughable farce of the "Dead Shot," with Mrs. Blake as Hector Timid and concluding with tb* amusing afterpiece entitled. "In and out of Place,'' in which Miss Denham will appear in five characters.
Council Proceedings. CITT^HAIX, March 5,1858. Common Council mot pursuant to adjournment.
Present—IIU Honor Mayor Patterson, and full Board of Councilman. The petitions of John Furguson and Samuel Jackson, pr#yt®gtt be allowed a license to retail spirituous, maKahd intoxicating liquors, were then presented
granted. The report of the Superintendent of the City Cemetery, showing one interment from the country and six from tho city was submitted and accepted.
The Treasurer's report was thsn submitted and accepted. Tho committ^o to whom tho ga* bills for December And January wero roforwxl, reported to allow the bills, deducting 810. 'Jlie report was coacurred in by the Council.
On motion of Mr. Conner, the Marshal was instructed to notify the President of the Oft* Company, (in accordance with his request,) when tho gas in tho public lamps is not lighted in compliance with the contract drawn up and entered into between tho Gas Company and the City.
On metion of Mr. Bnntin, the Street Commissioner was instructed to purchase a box of glass and havo it cut tho requisite size, so as to fit tho public gas lamps. 1 ho following resolution was olfered by Mr. Conner, ana passed unanimously:
Bt it rtsolved by i/ts Common Council of the city of Ttrre-Haute That all lhat portion of Wabash Btreet, from flie cast siilo of Fourth street to the brow of tho hill wost of First street, be graded, graveled, curbed and guttered with stone, aud that the satuo be done at the expense of tho property holders along said street. And bo it futher
Resolved, That notico be given according to law, that proposals will bo received for doing said work according to specifications of City Engineer, at tho Common Council room of said city, on Thursday, March 18,1858.
Mr. Conner ofTeied tfce following resolution, was which carried ananimously: ifrsoJW, That in all applications for license for special privileges, granted under City Charter or an ordinance, parties applying shall bo required to pay amount of said license to City Treasurer, and on presentation of Treasurer's receipt, tho Citv Clerk alone be authorised to issoe naici license, and that hereafter, the City Treasurer be required to give weekly statements of all separate or special funds received by him to City Clerk, and that City Clerk be required to charge said sums so reported by said Treasurer to the appropriate funds.
The petition of II. M. Oram praying to bo allowed to build a vault in City Cemetery, was referred to special committee, consisting ofR?ad, Boutin and Haney.
The Treasurer was instructed to re-trans for the amount borrowed of Grave Yard
Fond. On motion of Mr. Bnntin the Street Commissioner was instnioted to procure timber and have repaired tho Dock on the Canal on Second street*
On motion of Mr. Conner, the amu nt *f the street tax for gra ling North Ft ttrth ctreat, dve from the Sibleytown Methodist Church to K. W. Chad wick, coturaeior, was ordered to be paid by the city, ont of general fhnd.
On motion of Dr. Bead, a eommittee^of two were appointed to hare town clock repaired.

Be it retolved by the Common Council of the city of Terre-Hzutc, That all that portion of Ohio street from tho west side of Eight street to the brow of the hill west of First street be graded and graveled, and that the same be done at the expense of the property holders along said street.
Aud be it further Retolved, That notice be given according to law, that proposals will ho received according to tne specifications of the City Engineer, at the Conjmon Council room of said city on Thursday, April lst, 1858.
