Directress. The

made in the Hall itself ar

gued well for her intentions, bnt she has accomplished far more than we expected. She has actually given the citizens of Ter-ro-Haute a Theatre worthy of their patronage, and in every way superior to anything with which they have hitherto been favored. Each piece is well cast, well studied, aud effectively produced, and each night anew play is presented. ••La Tour da Nealc," on Tuesday night, was the most effective Drama that has yet been presented—and Mr. Chaplin, Bella Adams, and Mr. Taylor received much and

deserved applause. We trust it

will-soon be repeated.--'"' Mr. Varney's "Damon,'' on Monday evening, was as fine a delineation of the character as wo have witnessed for a long time, and hows that he possesses the ability to assume a prominent place in the profession.

The drama of the "Ucot Day" was produced last eveniug before a large and highly reportable audience, and received with lwarty applause——all the actors playing with life and ability. Tho celebrated-Pic-uros of "The Rent Day" and '•Distrainjug for Rent," by Sir David Wilkie, were admirably grouped, and the other entertainment of tho evening elicited much

laughter and applause. To-night the great drama of the "Drunkard" will be presented, and to add to tho attractions, tho management has effected an engagement with Miss I1 anny Denham, tho verHatilo actress, who appears as Black

Kvtid Susan. With ouch a bill, thero cannot fail to be a full house. The audiences increaso nightly in numbers and respectability, and tho Theatre innj be rogarded as a permanent institution in Torrc-llauto.
