But to the evidence. We qaote as follows from the Fort Warnn Times—Jofi.v W. Dawsoir, Editor. TMIW* "A* UwiL'THOiizFtD COSVCXTIOK.—Immediately on the adjourouteat of the'locofoco State Convention, held at Indianapolis, on the 8th a parcol of men, most of whotti bave beeo. oftico-holders, hangers and expeotanfs about the lobbeys of the Legislature for years, to some of whom the Whig party is indebted for a damning connection as managers, whose (•olicicalactivity was only measured by the money they had ia view, and whose efficiency is better t«I4 by the disasters they Have brought abotrt we say this parcel met, and constituting themselves into the brain* of the whole opposition to Buchanan's policy on the Kansas complicity, aent out aa edict for a Mass Convention to bo held at the Capital, on the 4th March next, to nominate a Plate Ticket in opposition to the oii6 formed that day by the locos. Now it does seem that these men are determined to kill what now of the living piinciple is loft of Republicanism in Indiana. THeiSteta Central Committee in 1856 accfleiatedt 4lte we of destruction the fow #hq iftet ind cattfd' th'cmeelves a StauTRcpublican Convention at Indianapolw in October last and nominated two candidates' for Supreme Judges •when no* vacancies had trftiispirtd, and who there passed a series 6f resolutions against banks, dec., gave-a farther impetus—the $tate Central Committee again in December was about to give the thing a knock oa the head by calling a State Convention for *22d February, but were foiled by the outside action 0 the pees* and the people, and went in and now as if to make sure of the mortality (if the thibg, by killing it, the so* ditant thinking committee— the brains—tho veterans of the political wars of 1856-7, and the scarified soldiers of many a contest for offioe, and a few of the newly pipped politicians whose munitions of warfare are found in the pockets of some veteran long-heel who loves niggers better than whites, have, in view of the defection existing in the democratic ranks, call a convention of the Masses at Indianapolis on the 4th March as before stated. In view of this we have to say, that the very defection which was begun and which might have matured into something by after events and the lapse of time, has been measurably healed by the avidity with which the brains men h$»vc 60ught to assail that pav6pV Hlis
Again, it will be folly, sye more, it will be madness, forevea the Republican party again to endorse the Philadelphia Platform. That platform is indefensible, the great idea of popular tovereignty, no matter how some may view it now as a
of right or wrong, has become the leading idea in the settlement of the Capitoline Territories. And on |the other hand, to admit that Owy/reie haa sovereignty over such Territories, and the^ deny it the power to legislate alike on slavery as on other domestic institution* there, is to oppose good logie and gainsay the history of legislation and jnaieial action for fifty years or theroaboat. The novelty of the essential features of the canvas* of 1856, was the secret of the nearness of success, but with the oooaaion the charm departed, and now our people must rely on some other line of action thaa opposition to slavery— a policy on which, if it were once successful, it would not do to administer the government for a Mingle month. It ia an abstraction, andt onoe carried of endorsed by the American people by legislative prohibition of sleverv, it must cease, and other question! of difkrenoe determine the line of action of the different parties who will soon again he divided on other question*, and again form new ones without the power to aggregate even on that which once gave a change to the dynasty. Popular sovereignty will be the ruling idea of the American mind bat while the doctrine of constitutional guaranties to slavery in the Territories, which the people can not abrogate, or occlude, as stated to the Dred "&>cott decision will be tenacionsly adhered to by the slavery propagandists, the groat conservative sentiment of the Union will crush it oat, until it will be no longer regarded aa a decision, but as the opinion of some of the Judges of the Supreme Court of the U. S. as that oourt was constituted in 1857.

Republican? of Indiana, will you listen to reason—-to common.sense? Then heed the warning given to you by a brother Rcpulilfcan. He speaks like an honest politician—he reasoas like a man of judgment —snd is one who cannot be corrupted by such men as are the acknowledged leaders of the two-faced Republican party, not only of Indiana, but of the entire North.— You who have followed these men through the last Presidential campaign, for the sake of expediency, pause now before you pledge iyour influence to them, for when they again get yt)u publicly enlisted iu their cause—that of eelf-aggrandizement—they will but laugh at your weakness. Your present position is awkward enough, in all conscience, without seeking a remedy that would be decidedly worse thau the rfwcwe.
Democrats vs Democrats. The Democratic party, all over the country, at this time, stauds in a most peculiar position—one that gives tho longtried .and unterrified the privilege of speak ang of his feIlow««in»er in terms to suit his purpose, and in many eases, more ttuth is tekl ihan the members of •either wing have been in the habit revealing.— Heretofore,, the prospect of office closed tho mouths of the Uirbu4e«t, but at present tho breach is too wide to soon hope for repairs, and it is truly laughable to see these rampant sway-backed democrats making ugly mouths at each other across the precipico. We most sincerely congratulate the country on this state of affairs in our political history, for when Groek meets Greek something mutf bo done, and as we are merely a cfoeply interested looker-on, we shall stand back and draw our own conclusions from the Kilkenny cat-fightij

Sauk or. CIRCASSIAN GIEIA—The London Pott thus speaks, in a recent number, of the traffic of Circassian girls ia Tarky:
Perceiving that when the Russians shall have reconciled the Caucasus, the traffic in white slaves will be over, the Circassian dealers have redoubled their efforts ever since the commencement of the peace conferences to iutro.luce into Turkey the great possible number of women, while the opportunity of doin£ so lasted. They have been ao successful, that never, perhaps, at auy former period, was white flesh so chcap as it is at this moment. Ther«j is in absolute glut iu the market, and dealers are obliged to throw away their goods, owing to the extent of the supply, which, in many instances, has been brought by fteam under tho British flag. In former time.-!, a "good middling" Circassian girf was thought very cheap at 100, but at the preseut moment the same description of goods may be had for £5.
