By pointing the rails It has bean found tnat trains of ordinary express speed have jumped over depressions of two feet in leugth on the rail. If an engine, going 60 miles an hour, could be run up an anjrlo of 45 for its own length, and then be allowed to jump off, it would tump GO feet high and 240 forward. The distanco jumped would be as the square of the speed.

Snow*n of Luuntw.—During the heavy rain on Sunday night last, live lixards, some of them measuring four inehes in length, came from the clouds like manna, though neither as plenty or half as welcome. lETWe cannot refram from calling the attention of our readers to an advertisement in this day's paper nf the "Hair Restorative of Prof. O. J. Wood &Co., of St. Louis. It will be seen that he has numerous certificates from persons of the highest character, to the merits of his Restorative. From positive knowledge we are also enabled to say, that it is in every sense what it professes to be and we do not hesitate to pronounce it the finest preparation for the head and hair which has so far been devised by Ha mats ingenuity. We have seen it arrest threatened baldness and restore to the head its original profusion of natural and glossy hair, and when the latter has been prematurely tingod with gray, we hare seen it like mT.ric, restore the colors of youth and health. The distinguished pro prietvof this, we might truly «ar, mir.iculoup "Rostornt've," is that it gives to the person who uses it, the same head of hair th it they wore in youth, thus noting in strict compliance with the* rules of the first and greatest of all trvilct makers—Nature.
