TERRE-H ATJTE MONDAY MORNING NOV

The Mayor has pledged himself in the inoit •otemn form that they shall be. In therecent riot there he mippressed the mob of armed Iriskftud took away iheir arras, with which thiiy had been jmpplied, doubtless by Democratic politicians, to make war upon and murder the police. The Governor of the State belongs tfc the Democratic party and sustains those Irish in whatever they may do against the American party. Seeing them disarmed therefore, he has oydrod ofit the malitia of the State, oadar the foolish pretence that at the election to be held in a few days, there will be another mob.— •This is a party movement—with no other object than to'injure the reputation of Baltimore, because it i8 -•'n American city, and by that means to injure the American party. It is an act of usurpation, not authorized by .any State constitution that we eter -Tead and if Hood shall be shed in.eonjujquence of it, it will be upon the "5orernor'8 head. To what length will not these Democratic leaders go, to exhibit their preference for foreignerif over ihe$r) own^coontiymen H-

Bn^pose Gov. Willard was to scud an ,1 armed force here to gtiar our polIs on

tthe

day of an election, under the pretenso that it was designed to keep down a mob, what would our citizens «|j£ to it? We Jt8 ^eonyine^d they would not submit. That is precisely what Baltimore is expeoted td submit to. We hope there will be'no blood shed, but the imprudence of the Governor may render it inevitable. The President tried the same experiment in Washington, and blood was -the result there. ,,
