This is a delightfnl occupation, doubtless, to the Commercial, and furnishes it a fine occasion to indulge its taste and peculiar talent.— Bnt if it had looked a little into the account which it introduced with the above attractive caption, it wonld have discovered that its greediness for some ground of attack upon those it bates so cordially has caused it to go off "half-cocked." If it had stopped long enough to think, it wonld have seen, even from the account which it publishes, that the affair referred to was not commenced by the Americans. Why was Jackson Hall filled with arms, powder and Irish bullies It was tho Democratit headquarters, Jtnd these bullies wero put there to insult and fire upon the Americans—and put there, too, wo have no doubt by Democratic polilician*-~v \\c) sagaciously kept out of harm's way—for the purpose of making political capital. They well knew that such papers as the Commercial would help them charge it all upon the "Plug Ugly's," as they call the Americans iMf

The Baltimore Patriot of tho 14th, the day it: occurred, puts tho whole iriatter shows that the Americans* wero fired on by the I*i*h and tlifit these foreign bullies attempt* ei to take the poll* at one of the prechits. FlneDntti Work.

We happened into the Dental Office of Da. S. B. SMITH, the other day, and were really surprised at the degree of perfection arrived at in mechanical dentistry, as shown by work done by Dr. S. We were shown sosae specimens of full sets of teeth, which appeared to be entirely suited to take the place of natural teeth, and for regularity and beauty, in many cases excelling even nature herself. Persons who will visit the rooms of Dr. 8., and examine his numerous specimens of artificial work, will need nothing more to convince them that in the mechanical department of the profess ion he is not to be excelled in the West, and all who know liim, personally, are aware of the fact that in the branch of surgical dentistry,, he lias ^become perfect, by years of study and practice."*,,!^ -sr 0

What Does it Bmit? Tlw Exp res 8 of the 19th inst., has following important article: "If the People of Indiana desire to ray the round sura of HALF A ^MILLION DOLLARS EVERY YEAR, in tho shape of interest, they will quietly lay still and permit a few stockjobbing Democrat* and Republicans to load the Wabash & Erie Canal upon their backs. Do the people like such a load Men standing high in the Democratic and Republican parties in Indiana, are stocking the cards to prodaee that result, Watch them."-? "Stock jobbing Democrats apd Republicans," hat Well, that is otfr notion, too. Give them fits—the leaders, of both parties are nothing but "stockjobbers,° and political gamblers, who would sell their souls for a few dollars, and throw off the interest. Did not "a few"'of these same party leader* self themselves to the bank men,-at the last session of our Legislature? Now they are in market again—and will be knocked off to tho highest bidder, for British gold—just as a similar class was in the days of the Revolution. Has the Express man changed his coat again?
