RAILROAD SHARES AN© SECURITIES. IIAIUIOAD BONDS.'—These continue ttoshotra decline in tlie market.— Unfortunately, seme of our leading iron maufactureis who depend largely on Railroad Securities for their weekly revenue, cannot sustain the load any longer. The result will be 1o curtail itailtoad credits, and the manufactured Railroad articles, such *8 engines, cars, Ac. The quotations ••are merely notmirt.l.
Since our last weekly report, the market for Railroad shares has exhibited a dccidcd decline. New York Coivtral »old to-day at 6 percent, loivor TEris, l.J Reading, G3f Michigan Central, 1.J Michigan Soiithurn, 2^ Panama, 5 Baltimore and CHtio, 3£ Illinois Central, Clevolnnd and Toledo, Chicago and Rock Inland, 8^ Milwaukic and Mississippi, 2^. The extreme difficulty ((almost impossible) in borrowing upon Railroad Securites, has compelled holders to realize at the low quotations of the week. It is only the leading rood shares and bonds on which money can be borro ved, ani for these rates are extravagantly high. Homo of the companies that are unfortunately in want of funds for their current operations, are paying in this market from 3 to per cent, per month for v^rrying loans—when their only legitimate carrying bnssincss Is that of passengers and freight, ^nd which should yield a largo income.—M'ew York Courier.
A IloPR Foil PttODlJCB DKAI.khs. The last New York papers say there are orders in that market, for the purchase of large lotw of breadstuff's at limited prices. The rc.-etft decline has brought prices within tho limits of these ordors, and shipments will now begin. The Journal of Commerce says the freight engagements for grain have averagod about 50,000 bushels a day for
a
weo*k. If prices do not fall
more rapidly in England than thoy do bore, this current of exports will be kept np-— if the low prices in New York do not provent grain from beiug sent forward from tho West.
DRIIT OF TWK Illinois ORNTRXt, H.V».RO.u».—It is reported that the
iloatingdobl ol the Illinois Central Railroad is some four millions of dollars, while tho installment due on tho 25ih of September will yield only $1,700,000, leaving a floating debt of «v«r two millions yet to be carried. The great decline of the stock within the past few days is doubtless owing to a knowledge of this fact among certain well informed parties. The President left for Europe, some two weeks since, for the purpose, it is presumed, of preparing foreign creditors, as far as possible, for what has occurred.
A Panther Killed.
Wo are informed by Mr Alfred TIotMton, that a panther was shot in the woods near Ellotsville, in Richland township, in this county, one day last week, by young Vint, while out in the field. It was a very large one, judging from the dimensions.— It measured seven feet and fonr inches from (he nose to the tip of its tail! bat It seems that he was extremely poor, weighing only one hundred and two pouurdts! It was of tho male species, and if supposed that the companion of the deceased animal is in the neighborhood, as some singular noises have been heard, and has a tendency toallarm a number of the inhabitants of this ricinitv. The skin has been staffW and will be on exhibition at the CewrtfPiir.V It will be a curiosity.

THE GRKATKT DISCOVERT o^ THE AGS."—It seldom occurs, that we notice, under any Circumstance, paient medicined, restoratives, or any thing of the kind, for we have- a prejudice against most of them. But candor compels ua to invite attention to the advertisement of Prof. Wood's Hair Restorativein tha last column at the bottom of third page of this paper. We arc too juvenile to require anything of the kind, but some instance of its use have come to our knowledge which almost assures us that it is a sovereign remedy against the hair becoming prematurely gray. It is not a "Hair Dye but upon its application a? directed, the effect is produced on theskiu, which brings out the nriginal native colored hair, without stiffness, and gives it a glossy and natural appearance. We have seen persons who have used it, nud they are much pleased with it Examine the advertisement.—[Missont-i Re-, publican. Sold by all respectable Druggists.

ANN ARBOR, Nov. ft, 1856
PROP. O. J. Woon—Dear Sir: I have heard much said ofthe wonderful effects of your Hair Restorative, but having been so often cheated by quackery and quack nostrum*, hair dyes, &.C., I was disposed lo place Vo'iir Restorative in the same category with the thousand and one loudly trumpeted quack remedies, until I tnct you in Lawrence county Some ifaontha since, when yon gave me Rich assurance as induced the trial of your Restorativein my fami ly—first by my good wife, whose hair had become very thin and entirely white, and btfore exhausting one of ynur large bottles, her hair, was restored nearly to its original beautiful brown color, and had thickened and become beautiful and glossy upon, and entirely over the head she continues to use it, not simply because of its beautifying eflects upon the hair, but because of its healthful influence upon the head »nd mind. Others of my family and friends are using your Restorative, with the happiest effects therefore, my skepticism and doubts in fefrrenco to if* character nnd value are entirely removed" and I cart and do most Cordially ami confidentially recommend it« use by all who would have their hair restored from white or gray fby reason'of sickness or age,) to original color and beailty, atvl by all yonhg persons wljo would have their
hair beautiful and glossv. J"-»Very truly an5 cmtcfu SOLO MO

It has done all that you assured me it wonld do And others of my family and friends, havfrtg witnetaed its effects, are now using and recommending It* UP toothers *9entitled to the highest consideration yon claim fbr it.

I have nsed Prof. O. J. Wood's Hair Restorative, and hive admired its wonderful effects. My hair was becoming, »s I thought, preipatorely gray, but by the u^c of his Restorative it has resumed its original dolor? and hate to doubt permanently so. 8. BBESSE.ex-Senatnr, U. 8.
