The owner of the carpet sack, came to town Use day before, was out of money *aod desired to go to Alton* Jewell promised to get him some money, remarking that he also intended to go to Alton soon, and the moncjr coald then bo repaid *to him. jgThey went together to McGuire's grocery and loft 0e bag with the bar-keeper, with directions* to keep it until they should return but as they were going out Jewell returned to the bar-ko 'per and tlreeled bi to let either of thorn have it (who should return.
