TERRE'HAUTE. FRIDAY MOROTNS. JULY 31, »S7.
Onr Telegraph Reports. We present to our readers this morning, the telegraphic news from New York, at I o'clock, p. m. yesterday, which is one day in Advance of every other paper here, and eight hours earlier than the same can be received by way of Cincinnati. --?r-
Will net the citizens of Terre-Hante support tt* in this effort to furnish them with the latest news, at the same time it is furnished In all the cities? Of course, they will understand that it cannot be done without great expense. Now, if they will only come forward liberally, and sustain ns in this enterprise, wo pledge ourselves to give them every morning the telegraphic news, which they now reccive by the afternoon train from Cincinnati. This lias neverjret been done in Torre-Haute, and we feci confident that onr enterprising eiiizens will not foil to sustain us in this effort to furnish a Daily paper here, that shall give them the news from the East in a few hour*, at the same time that it is received in Cincinnati, Louisville, St. Lmiis Chicago and all the other cities. If they will do so, we will furnish every morning the telegraph news np to 9 o'clock of tho previous night—that is, in twelve hours from New York.
The American Party Described. Humphrey Marshall describes the American party as "a broad and quiet river, that takes its noiseless way through the plain, diffusing fertility nn«l beauty on all sides and losing itself only jn the expanded ocean of the nation's weal!'' An ex-Ivnow Nothing friend of the Louisvillo Democrat nay*, that according to his experience, it is liku a country road ho once travelog which at the start was broad and plam, straight and smooth, promising a pleasant journey and speedy arrival nt tho desired goal, but soon began to tnist around fences and wind through the woo-ls, becoming less distinct at
every «tep, until at last, it ended in a «l.lit track, and ran into the gronnd. Oquaxcka (lilt.) Plaindealer.
Yes, and ever since this ex-Know Nothing slid off tho back of the party he was anxious to ride, he has been trotting around the Democratic bullpen with the avidity of a grey hound, nnd the result has anuoyed him more than once. He caught the glimpse of this pen, while at the end of tho "rabbit track/' and proferre/ making a tool of himself to going into the ground.— Hut as this bull-pen is built out of the Yankee's crooked rails, which wero fraudlently purchased, ho makes but little progress, except towards destruction and eternity—at the end of every lnik heat ho finds himsolf on tho same side ho sot out from. Ho is afraid to jump the fcuco, as there is a possibility of sticking into ths ground. This literal knoie nothing, and a great many more of his ilk, have kept up ibis kind of dog trot, untU they h*vo been tho means of raising the price of leather, materially, and in thoir eager «ftar expediency, now turn round and fcarfc nt the hole they imagine the American party went into. The troth is, the American party only pretendod to disappear for a few days, in order to get rid of such bug-bear subjects, who were a dead weight to them, and materially itftenmpted a successful crusad\ Pure and undofiled they arose im the third day, and never were there a more gallant band of brothers linked together by mutual interest.
This ex-Know Nothing has pursued the tabbit track around the bull-pen, until he has worn it ont, and aow, mo doubt, would readily pay five duUais for a back trade.

Doo.—Yesterday afteraooon,
a gentleman, who was walking along the line of the Columbia Railroad, about two miles West of the Market street Bridge, noticed that his dog acted in a very strange manner. The Snimal ran backwards and forwards between his master and some bnshes, and appeared very anxious that he shonld follow him ioto the thicket.— The master finally did as the dog evidently desired he should do, and was led by the sagacious animal to the spot where a babe, about three monts old, was lying upon its face. The gentleman immediately picked up the child, and found that it was living. The little fellow seemed to be in very good condition, except for a bruise upon the back of its head, as thongh it had fallen from a distance. It was well wrapped up. By some it is thought the child had faPen from a passing emigrant train and rolled down the embankment to the spot where it was found. It is possible though it might have been thrown there by some tinnatural woman. The helpless little creature was sent to the Blockley Almshouse.—Philadelphia Dull elm.

YOUNG LADIES.—
Young ladies of a romantic turn of mind may derive wholesome experience of thc misery that attends ill assorted marriages from the case of Madame Chabrc, who is now suing before a Paris tribunal for a divorce. She is the daughter of a Belgian nobleman, and years ago, when possessed of youth beauty, and §40,000, married a clown whom she saw in a Brussels-- theatre, and with whom she fell desperately in love. Thenngreatefnl husband, however, after squandering her funds, deserted her for a young riding woman at Franeoni's whose talents in jumping through and endless number of paper hoops captivated his more practical mind.
PHYSICIAI. CHANGES
IS
About thc age of thirty-six tho lean man usually becomes fatter, and the fat man leaner. Again, between the years forty-three and fifty his appetite fails, his complexion fades, and his tongue is apt to be furred upon the least exorivon of body or mind. At this period his muscles become flabby, his spirits droop, and his slesp is imperfect and unrefreshing. After suffering under these complaints a year or perhaps, two years, ho starts afresh with renewed vigor, and goes on to sixty-two, when a similar change takes place, but with aggravated symptoms. When these grand periods have been successively passed, the gravity of the incumbent years ismore strongly market!, and ho begins to boast of his age.

remarkable for its intelligence. Every Saturday morning it received from its master a one dollar bill, which it carried very careftilly to market, and with which it paid its moat bill for the week. One day through press of business, thc broker neglected to give Bepo his enstomary allowance, and through i-trcct and warehouse, mart and exchange, tho dog followed his master, who wondered at such unusual attendance. At last, seated in his office chair,.ho had time to recollect the causo of honest Bepo's pertinacity, and, carefully taking a bill from, his pocket, he threw it to the dog expecting to see him depart as usual. Immediately npon the receipt of the disastrous Tndian news at London, a cabinet council was held and Sir Collin Campbell was dispatchcd to India to take command of the army left vacant by the death of General Anson. Advices from China state that Canton was suffering from famine and that a battle had been fonght between the imperial troops and the rebels.
Hie battle was fought above Foo-'Choo-foo. The result was not certainly known but it is beleived that the imperials were victorious. -Sir John Boweiing intimates that compensation for loses sustained by British subjects wonld be demanded Irom the Chinsse government.
