Miss Janet Scudder leaves next week for Ghicago, where she will make her future home with her brother, Will, and pursue her art studies at the art institute.

Miss Anna Feltus gave a delightful party in honor of her cousin, Miss Gertrude Feltus, of Bloomington, Ind., last evening, at her residence on north' Fourth street.

Miss Stella White was agreeably surprised by a large number of her little friends at her home on south Fourth street, Thursday evening. Elegant refreshments were served and the evening was spent in playing games and dancing. Among those present were: Julia Duenweg, Grace McClain, Esther Gilman, Cecil White, Fanny Carey, Elma Brown, Emma Brunken, Elsie Taylor and Wayne Bigwood, Fred Kickler, Chas. Button, John Kickler, _Rov Laurener, Shannon Weeks, Fred Conrad, Walter Abbott, Ralph Tailor.

Andrew Michelson, who has for several years been afflicted with the lower lids of both eyes turning outwards cans ine the eyes to water and be constantly inflamed, had the eye lids restored to their natural condition by a surgical operation performed this morning by Dr. Crowley, the oculist. The operation re suits in perfect relief of the diseased condition.

A masque ball will be given by the Military band on St. Valentines evening, February 13th at Germania hall.

The ladies of the Moffatt street presbyterian church held their regular missionary meeting in the church yesterday afternoon. Several visiting sisters from Indianapolis were in attendance.

The Young People's Society "of Chris tian Endeavor of the christian church will celebrate christian endeavor day at the church" on Sunday, February 1st at 6:30 p. m. Sunday is the anniversary of the founding of the society. An interesting programme will be rendered. All are invited.

One of the most interesting meetings ever held in the Untied Brethren church of this city Is now in progress. Up to date forty-three have been converted and thirty-five added to the church. Never in the history of the church has these been such crowds seeking for admission. Scores and even hundreds are turned awav. The meetings will continue next week.

A DELIGHTFUL AFFAIR.

One of the most delightful social events, for the young people, that has ever been given in this city of late was the reception to their friends of Misses Mar and Carrie^Prestoiv daughtera of Mr. and Mrs. I. V. Preston, of north Seventh street, last evening. Over one hundred were invited, but it was impossible for all of these" to attend. Over eighty were present. Prof. Oskar Duenweg acted as manager, and, as usual, acquitted himself with high honors.

The residence was beautifully decorated with flowers, etc., and an elegant programme of dances was carried out. Very elegant refreshments were served, and at a late hour the many guests departed, wishing their fair hostesses many days of happiness, in return for the pleasant evening sprat. The young people who were present are:
