CWICAOO, June 11.—A bill was filed in the United States Circuit court yesterday by Oeorge Blodgden and A. W. Spies against the Oliiatgo Eastern Iilinois railroad for a m-eiver for the branch of the company's line extending from Dal ton to Danville, 111., and from Bismarck, 111., to Snoddy's Mills, Ind. The complainants say they represent a majority of the holders of one-million dollars income bonds of the portion of the road indicated. The bill charges that the Kastern Illinois, since giving aconsol mortgage in 1SS4, has ceased to keep a se|arate account of the earnings of the income division. It is for this reason, and to secure an accounting, that a receiver is asked.

E. Kimball, representatives of the New York syndicate which has taken the securities of the St Louis, Alton A Springfield railroad, have been examining the terminal facilities of the Merchants' bridge, the proposed line from Venice to making estimates of cost of

Alton, and betterments, including the extension from Bates to Springfield. Manager Fisher says improvements to the amount of $2,000,000 will be node.

The pending deal between the Wisconsin Central and Milwaukee & Northern railroads is based as follows: The Wiscon sin Central which wantsthe Northern line to get into Milwaukee, and to serve as a feeder for its Milwaukee and Chicago business, offere $5,000,000 in cash for the Northern, and proposes, in addi tion, to assume the indebtedness of that road, which amounts to nearly 15,000,000. The option held by the W isconsin Central Company expires July 1st

Chief Engineer Ben McKeen, of the Logan division of the Vandalia, who is superintending the work of completing the Indiana & Lake Michigan Railway was in the city last evening and was seen by a NEWS reporter. He reports fine progress being made with the work and that there only remains about one more week's work to be done. "We have a force working from each end and the forces will in all probability come together in a week or possibly a little more," said Mr. McKeen.

How soon do you think you can run trains over the new line?" asked the reporter. "Well, I don't know about that. When the work on the road bed is complete there still remains considerable to do, We will have to build sidings, stations, round houses and turn tables before the road will be ready for operation but it will not be long before it is in operation It has been a big job but I will soon be through now?'

An nnusual interest is being developed in the coming visit of Gilmore's famous band, which will be heard at Naylor's opera house, Wednesday evening, June 18th. The great and renowned Gilmore is a welcome person in any community, and a* he is about the most enterprising leader known, he gets around to every part of America with his delightful band con certs, and he is the only conductor who has had bin band in all parts of the world. His concerts and festivals of the present spring will number about two hundred up to the time his band will return to Manhattan beach, June 28th, for their twelfth year at that popular resort. Gilmore will not only have his great luind with its many lemarhable soloists, but will also have with him a uartette of sele ted first-class vocal arista who will lend a pleasing diversity to the programme. Miss Ida Klein, the soprano of the Gilmore party, is a remarkable singer in some n«pects. Her voice is of very sweet and pure qualitv, powerful and of extensive compass.
