Mr. Grant's Tas'e for Bourbon. It lias Ion* been known that Mr. Grant ts hud no little love for Bourbon whisky, bat until very recently it was not generally known that he had any particular taste for another kind of Bourbon. But such is the fact as evidenced in his tender solicitude of their success, in attempting to bring about the defeat of Mr. Greeley, and of course the success of his own (Grant's) Presidential aspirations. Of this latter kind of Bourbon, one Billy Moreau i3 chief among about ten, more or less. Billy, under the instruction of Mr. Grant's ring masters, sends out a private circular to Mr. Grant's Postmasters over the State, for gratuitous distribution. With the circular generally comes a voluminous document bearing on the flyleaf the following inscription: ''Democratic campaign documents Address to Mr. O'Conuerf Mr. O'Conner's letter, and reply of committee Proceedings of the Democratic State Convention, Speeches of Major Will C. Moreau and Dr. W. F. Sherod, candidate for Congress at large. This document is evidently printed at the office of Mr. Grant's paper in Indianapolis, but the imprint is cautiously withheld frcm the margin.

MY DEAR SIR —I herewith hand you a few documents lor your own reading and distribution among your friends. Owing to tho brief time left us for elFective campaign work, more than ordinary effort seems to be required from each one of us.
We would be less than men were we to submit tamely to the tyrannical bidding of our former leaders, and cast our vote for tho moit offensive and bitter enemy our party ever had.
We must defeat Greeley and every Democratic leader who is enlisted in his cause, The simplest personal and politieal honesty demands this of us, and we must not fail to do our whole duty. Please send me the names of all true Democrats in your neighborhood who will not support Greeley. I will send you in a short time a package of tickets. You will have to paste or fasten them on to your county ticket, or where you are strong enough and have facilities for so doing, you can get your own tickets printed.
Let us hear from you soon. Yours truly, WILL C. MOREAU, Chairman Dem. State Com. Billy was quite careful not to say in the second paragraph that they would not submit to the Grant party leaders for he very well knew that the work was being done under their direction. In the third paragraph, this new convert to Giantism acknowledges that the Democratic Grautites are not strong enough everywhere to get their tickets printed. This admission, of itself, should be a sufficient guarantee to all Democrats who believe in unity and consequent success of the party, that those who are engineering this movemeut of disorganization in the Democratic party, are in the pay of Mr. Grant and his managers. They do not expect to do anything but defeat Mr. Greeley, which means the election of Grant. It ought to be plain to every Democrat who has any sense, that this movement costs money, and is under the immediate management of men noted as vagrants—men who have no standing in community, political, social or business. All respectable members of the Democratic party who have been nominated in the various conventions held, have either peremptorily declined or paid no attention to the insult.
Our Sullivan correspondent informs us that a prepaid package ftf the above described documents was received by the Postmaster at that place per express the other day, who, be it said to his honor, refused to distribute them as directed, avowing his determination to do no such dirty work for anybody.
We understand such packages have been received by individuals in this city but we have full faith in the common sense of Terre Hauteans of the Democratic faith, aud do not believe there is one here who has not intuition sufficient to see through this very thin pretence to true Democracy encircling these Grant campaign documents. We believe if any do heed the claim? there*set up, and act on the suggesitions there made, will be a political knave and not a political fool.
Memorial.
Our beloved brother Darwin B. Oti?, died at his residence, in this city, on Sunday evening, September 29, after a lingering illness of many months. In his removal from our circle, however deep the bereavemant may be to us, we ust not fail to consider that "the will of God is accomplished and whilst we are humbly submissive to the Divine Dispensation, we can give only expression to our deep regret at our loss, and extend our sincere sympathies to those whose affliction is still greater than our own.
In the death of Brother Otis, our Order has lost an upright and exemplary member, and the community one who, though young, had already shown that energy aud capacity that gave promise of the most creditable success in business, and the intelligence and graces of manner that wore circulated to adorn the social circle.
Oiir most heartfelt sympathies are extended to his deeply afflicted family and friends and in accordance with our usages, and in testimony of our feelings, we will attend his funeral from his late residence in this city.

This distinguished German gentleman, now Liberal-Democratic candidate for Governor of Illinois, came to our city yesterday, and after having enjoyed the hospitalities of those of our citizens of his political persuasion and nationality, was escorted to the Temple by about two hundred Germans, bearing torches and headed by Breinig's band, discoursing some most stirring airs. Upon arriving a* the Temple, a goodly audieuee greeted the escort., and their charge, with cheers. Mr. W. E. Hendrich introduced the speaker, who spoke for some time, but subsequent proceedings iotererested u» no more,as bis address was delivered in the German lauguaga.
