Kling out the flag, its folds of white Bear nothing but a laurel wreath Beneath it, marshalled in their might,
This movement, the intolerance of a political party, grown arrogant by the possession of power and patronage long retained, aud indiscreetly employed, has rendered necessary aud the people and parties, opposed to the usurpations .of political organizations, willingly accept the situation, and will cheerfully await and abide by the verdict of the people to be rendered in the autumn of the present year.
We all know that this Union must exist—if it exists at all—by a real and not stimulated or forced union among the people. A people divided among themselves is utterly inconsistent with any correct idea of that Union, we must have, to perpetuate the Republic and enjoy its hospitality. Remember, my fellow-citi-zens, that we must succeed, and that we will succeed, by resolving to do right, with prudence, moderation aud truth. Let these be the means, and the ballot the instrument, for achieving that great success. Remember that the ballot is
A weapon firmer set,
And better than the bayonet A weapon that comes down as still As snow flakes fall upon the sod, But executes a freeman's will
As lightning does the will of God." I thank you, gentlemen, for this high compliment, for this manifestation of your satisfaction, for this evidence of your hearty approval of the selection, made by the parties interested, of the candidate for office of Lieutenant Governor.

Greeley and Our Flag.
Behold the true men and their chief. From North and South, from East and West, They come as thick as ocean's sand, Prepared the issue now to test,
If thieves or patriots rule the land.
Let despots strike and bigots rave, Their bolts pass harmless from the shields Of men whose life blood, likea wave,
Has watered many ensanguined fields. Fling out the flag of purest white, Stamped with the laurel of the free O'er Greeley's head now shines the light
That cheers us on to victory. Shall we supinely yield our States To relatives and their plund'ring sway Shall we bow down to fears and hates
Born of the war, now passed away Nfjapwhile the current fn our veins Bounds quick with warm, fraternal blood As well try stem with paltry chains
The rush of bid Niagara's floods. In front the honest Greeley leads, Brown's trumpet tones sound on the air, Fall in the ranks, your country needs
All hearts that brave, all armsthat dare. Fling out the flag of purest white, Stamped with the laurel of the free Behold Above us shines the light
That leads us on to victory.
CRAVENS.
He is Serenaded by His Neighbors and Friends, and Makes a Speech Accepting the Nomination of Lieutenant Governor.
The Madison Progress says Judge Craveus was serenaded at his residence on Thursday night, a large number of persons being present. It will be noticed that the Judge, in handsome and appropriate terms, accepts the nomination for Lieutenant Governor:
Judge Cravens was serenaded at his residence last night, a large number of persons being present. The Judge said:
Evidence of esteem and confidence, like the present, on the part of my neigtbors and friends, are, of all things, the most grateful to my heart far more so than official honor or public station. Your congratulations on this occasion rise above the plane of mere common-place compliment, and I will not be guilty of the supreme folly of affecting, or attempting to affect, an indifference which, I assure you, I ana far from feeling. However cold and indifferent one might be on an ordinary occasion, the manifestation of pleasure, gratification and feeling on your part, on the part of my friends and neighbors, could not fail to elicit a corresponding feeling, pleasure and response on mine. It is no small honor to have been unanimously recommeuded by the Liberal Republicans of Indiana, and to have been as unanimously adopted by the Democracy of the State, for the second office within the gift ot the people of this Commonwealth. To be tiius designated for a high and responsible office, in the interests of this great popular movement, by a people resolutely determined in favor of reform, amnesty and reconciliation, is truly an honor of no small •magnitude. I trust I fully appreciate that honor, and as fully comprehend its grave responsibilities. I regret that a more ably and widely known Republican of our State had not been chosen for the position which has so kindly been awarded to me, but I am consoled with the knowledge that there are such men associated with me, in other places on the ticket. This is no mere party movement. Party lines, party prejudice and party bitterness, have ail been laid on the altar of a common country, and people, therefore, in political antagonism, without distinction of party, race, color or previous condition, have united in a determined effort to return this great Government to those plain aud homely paths, wherein the true happiness and prosperity of the Republic are always to be fouud and to reinstate those wholesome restraints of law, which a true and honest construction of the Constitution, as it is, will never fail to suggest. The central idea of this movement, is the public welfare, the rule of its conduct the public will.

toHbe conspicuously associated with yours in a determined effort to render amnesty complete and universal in spirit as well as in letters. Even defeat in such a cause would leave no sting wnile triumph would rank with those victories which no blood reddens, and which evoke no tears but those of gratitude and joy." I have not, like the sage of Chappaqua, any dense forest or whetted axes with which to invite you to a trial of your skill in slaying the monarchs, but I give to you, one and all, a hearty and cordial invitation to my parlor, where I will be happy to refresh you with ice cold wa'er and warm welcome.
Rev. G. H. Robertson, in his last sermon in Louisville, before his fall, said: "God says of Israel as of a wife that hr forsaken her husband and gone after another lover 'I gave her corn, and wine, and oil, and multiplied her silver and gold, which they prepared for Baal.' It was a fearful accusation. Ttie gratitude of it and the daring of it are unspeakable. It is an indictment that might be brought against many in our modern Christendom. God blesses them with an abundance of wealth and untoward good, and they sacrifice them to vanity and sensual indulgence: they make ornaments out oft legold and silver to decorate their idol, Pride they pour the gathered treisureat the feet of Mammon. The punishment threatened, and which came at last, is in terrible keeping with the olfense.—Si. Louis Olobe.
M». SCAMMON denies that Henry Wilson was ever a Know-Nothing. He was a mefnber of a Know-Nothing "Lodge he took the Know-Nothing oath,—oneof the most tremendous ever penned and he was elected to the Senate, in 1855, by
Legislature composed of 412 KnowNothings aud 4 others. Moreover, as late as 1861, he indulged in a gratuitous fling at the race wiiich Grant tried to proscribe. In the Globe of February 21, 18G1, is a speech by Wilson, in which he denounces J. P. Benjamin for his treason to "a country which gives equality of rights even to that race that stoned prophets and crucified the Redeemer of the world."—Chicago Tribune.
Loveliness on the Increase.—A marked increase of female loveliness is the eyedelighting result of the immense popu larity which HAGAN'S MAGNOLIA BALM has obtained among the ladies of America. Complexions radiant with snowy purity, and tinged with the roseate hue of health, are commonly met with whenever it is used. For the sallow aud unwholesome appearance of the face and neck, which utterly counterbalances the effect of any personal attraction the owner may possess, it substitutes that clear, pearl-like complexion which is such a transcendaut charm in woman, and renders the roughest skin as soft as Genoa velvet. No one is more astonished than the person using it at the marvelous transformation which it effects in these particulars.
Time and enlightened experience have shown that certain substances formerly used and relied on in medical practice, are unnecessary and dangerous yet some of these substances have found their way into medical compounds. DR. WALKER'S CALIFORNIA VINEGAR BITTERS however, contain nothing injurious, being composed exclusively of vegetable substances from California. For all disorders of the liver, kidneys, bladder, skin, and digestive organs, and for purifying the blood, they are the most wonderful remedy known.
