Enthusiastic Liberal Meeting at Richmond, Indiana.
RICHMOND,. IND.,
April
20.—Pursuant
to a call numerously signed, a meeting assembled in Lyceum Hall on the forenoon of Saturday last, and an organization was effected by the election of Major Isaac Kinley as Chairman. The following preamble and resolutions were adopted "WHEREAS,
vention of Liberal Republicans to be held in Cincinnati on the 1st of May, that they put in nomination as candidates for President and Vice President me'n of such ability and experience that they will not become the prey of the corrupt political cliques and rings that may gather round them men whose integrity of character will insure the inauguration of those reforms in the civil service of the country that are so much needed men from whose administration of public affairs we may reasonably hope for tranquility at home and respect abroad. '•'•Resolved, That Charles Francis Adams meets our views of the right kind of a man to head such a ticket. "Resolved, That we favor the one term principle for President, believing, as we do, that much of the political corruption which unfortunately imperil* our country owes its origin to intrigues for a renomination of the incumbent."
The meeting elected the following del egates to attend the Cincinnati Convention:
Richmond—Isaac Kinley, Howell Graves, David S. Burton, Dr. Harriman, D. Houghson, D. Taylor, Isaac H. Julian, Dr. J. B. Weist, A. W. Reed, Parvin Wright, Jethro Dennis, Joseph W. Starr, A. W. Simmons.
Centreville—Hon. George W. Julian. Dublin—Dr. S. S. Boye. Abington—James Jarrett. Milton—John Frazee. Newport—Rev. Elijah Coates, Dr. T. W. Taylor, Daniel Hough.
Chester—Captain W.C. Jeffries. Henry county—Captain Jeffries, James Brown.
A resolution was passed creating all who attend from Wayne couuty, delegates with equal powers as those above named.
The following letter from Hon. George W. Julian was read CENTERVILLE,

ready now,'as at all times, to avow my political opinions and preferences, and I desire, through you, to say a word to those who shall assemble under the call for a Liberal Republican meeting. "I am decidedly opposed to there-elec-tion of General Grant, whose renomination, through the most scandalous abuses of Federal patronage, has become a foregone conclusion. With the opinions I entertain of his Administration, and of the men who have him in their keeping, I could not aid in his election without sinning against political decency and my own self-respect. If it were morally possible I would support him gladly, having no personal grievances whatever to complain of, and sincerely regretting as I do, the necessity which compels a separation from "political associations in which I have labored for many long years, and through seasons of great national danger. If no higher considerations had appealed to me tbah my own selfish ambition, it can scarcely be necessary to say that I would now be found at work for Gen. Grant,s re-elec-tion as zealously as I shall oppose it for the fact is perfectly well known that tlje prizes of politics were within my reach, if I had sought theia this fall through the regular machinery of the Republiean organization and the support of the party' iu power. But in my best political life my desire.for office has never been strong enough to swerve me from my fidelity to the truth, or my devotion to what I believed to be principle, at whatever cost to myself and I am now too old to learn the despicable arts of a time server "As to what is known as the Liberal Republicafa movement it is the natural product of the times. It is at once a moral and political necessity, born of the general demoralization of American polities and it is as impossible to avoid or suppress it as it was to prevent the uprising of 1848. Had the Republican party, having accomplished the work that called it into being, applied itself to the new and liviug questions of the times, and resolutely set its face against political corruption and public plunder and had it fully tolerated houest differences of opinion in its own ranks, treatiag the question ot Grant's renomination as au opt-none, iustead of making it a test of Republicanism, and a cause for political excomtnunication, the (Cincinnati Convention would never have been called. It is a child of partisan madness aud political faithlessness. Whether it shall at once organize anew national party, or only prove a transition to such organization to be formed hereafter, I hope that convention will nominate true Republicans, known statesmen, and incorruptibie patriots, aud place them on a platform in accord- with such a ticket and if so, I shall unhesitatingly give it my support. "I am very truly yours, "GEORGE W. JULIAN."
was
first made known to the public by an extensive system of advertising. From that time to the present, the demand for it has been steadily increasing until it has taken the lead of all embrocations, lotions, ointments, and other external remedies, imported or domestic, ever introduced into the American market. In the most celebrated racing aud trotting stables, in the establishments of stage and city car companies, and in the stables of private gentlemen, it is the only recognized cure for such diseases of the horse as require outward treatment. Nor is it less valuable as a local application for some of the most distressing complaints to which man is subject. Rheumatism, stiffness of the joints, neuralgia, sore throat, tumors, wens, earache, toothache, yield to its pairi-subduing, counter-irritant properties, and burns, scalds and cuts are healed with incredible rapidity under its operation.
Dead Men Tell no Tales: if they did, anathemas against the depleting lancet, the drastic purge, and the terrible salivants of the materia mediea, would arise from every graveyard. The motto of modern medical science is "Preserve and Regulate, not destroy, and no remedy of our day is so entirely in harmony with this philanthropic logic as
