The following is the platform adopted at the State Convention Thursday: The Committee on Resolutions reported the following:

The Republicans of Indiana, by their delegates in convention assembled, in appealing once more to the people of the State for the support of their candidates fdrpublic oiBce, declare: 1. That in the future, as in the past, we will adhere to the principles of the De- ,, claration of Independence, and firmly sustain the Constitution of the United

States as the true basis of popular free'jdom and will maintain the equal rights of all men before the law and the authority of the National Government against "all false theories of National rights. .m 2. That we therefore approve of the* acts of Congress, and of the admiai&tration, which put the rights of all citizens it {'under the protection of the National authority when they are assailed by hostile legislation, or by the violence of armed :ia8so,ciations, whether open or secret an*!, we demand the enforcement of the laws, that these rights may be securely ana nJyprQtected.jyhere ver aM,atofeXer invaded.' 3. That we congratulate the country on the complete restoration of the Union ind now as heretofore, the Republican party remembers with gratitude .ouivbra vesold ters and sean^ren .wl?o imperilled their lives in the service of the country, and to whom as men who saved the nation in the hour of her peril we owe the highest honor and. we declare that our obligations to them shall never be forgotten, and we demand that the bounties and pensions now, or which tnay be provided* for these brave defend•ers of the nation, shall be paid without cost to the recipients and that the ^widows and orphans of the gallant dead, the wards of the nation* shall receive the nation's protecting care, and while we cheerfully assume..all these burdens, we cannot: forget, that to the Democratic party, South and North, we owe all the calamities of the slave-holders* rebellion, the debt now resting upon the industry of our State aud nation. 4. That we indorse the action of Con gress, and of the administration in maintaining the traditionary policy of the nation of living in friendly relations ith other governments, yet avoiding entangling alliauces with them, as evidenced in checking hostile expeditions from our shores, refusing to interfere in domestic revolutions, even where our sympathies are strongly enlisted, and agreeing to the arbitration of disputed claims while demanding admission of the wrong done. 5. That we approve the action of Congress aad of the present administration in all their efforts to reduce expenditures iu the several departments, and in the reduction of the tariff aud internal taxes as rapidly as the exigencies of the government will admit, while continuing to maintain the public credit by the sure and gradual payment of the debt of the nation, and by discharging the obligations due her soldiers, sailors afld pensioners. 6. That we favor all efforts looking to the development of the great industrial interests of the State, and we request »ur

npon the pit of the stomach of a child, will cause the bowels to be emptied, and alloes kept in contact with a raw surface will produce same effect as if the medicine had been taken into the stomach. So said 'the great Dr. Clutterback. Very many persons know the operation of croton oil when placed upott the tongue, to say the least, it is speedy. Purgatives in some sha e, are indispensable in the practice of medicine. Many diseases are incurable without them and all of the simple disorders of the system are benefitted by their use. The great desideratum in theii administtB' tion has been to get one which has either laxative or purgative, as was needed—always mild but always efficient—and the use- of which did not make it necessary to continue its use. This has at last been done. Edward Wilmb'sFamILY

A distinguished physiologist hasdeclared that it seems to be a principle of natyre that every situation capable of supporting organic bodies should be peopled with them. The huge whale is often driven to madess by an almost invisible member of the tribe of vermes. The biistorv of Helminthology abounds in illustrations of the influence of worms in the production of disease and in the exasperation of tbeir symptoms. The frequency of worms in the bodies of men theit obviousness to the senses, together with, their cbmmon connection with enfeebled and morbid states of the animal economy, all tend to, repdar tbem an object of interest from the remotest periods.
