ANDREW CROW indulged in a plain, straight, commonplace drunk, this morn ing, for which Mayor Thomas had the audacity to charge him*$8.15.

BRAZIL coal will bring over eleven cents per bushel in Indianapolis, instead of nine cents, as the Indianapolitans expect, after the completion of their coal road.

WE are happy to state that R. S. Tennant, W. C. Ball and Major O. J. Smith, the benevolent trio of hazardous enterprises, cleared twenty-five dollars on the lecture at the Opera House last night.

ligence in returning marriage licenses and solemnizing an illegal marriage, is set for trial in the Criminal Court on Monday morning.
THEcoal operators of Clay county have written that they will send twelve more car loads of coal to the destitute of Chicago. This aid will not come amiss during the present inclement season.
THERE were shipped from Brazil, during the month of January, over the T. H. & I. Railroad, 3,273 car loads of coal, amounting to 40,000 tons, which yielded a freight revenue to the road of $33,000. A snug little freight bill for one month.
A STATISTICALLY inclined exchange concludes that if the sewing machine and insurance agents, were taken out of almost any place now-a-days, the population would be diminished as much as if the town had been visited by the cholera. ..

TO-NIGHT we are to hare Hamlet at the Opera House for the first time. Below we give an extract from an Eastern press: "HAMLET" IN FREDONIA.—Wednesday evening our citizens were favored with an entertainment of more than common attractions, by Mr. W. F. Leggett, of New York City. His ready and complete transformation ot countenance as occasion requires, while surprising to the spectator, is at the same time the best of evidence that he is a master in Shakespearian elocution.—Advertiser and Union, Feb. 12, 1872.
THE miners in the Newburg district, Clay county, have gone to work on the following basis During the rest of this month they are to receive $1 per ton. During March, 90 cents from April to October, 80 cents, and from October to April, 1873, 90 cents. The prospect is that there will be no further trouble.

Jeffers & Co., Main street, this morning, and as we anticipated, feasted our optics on a most magnificent array of goods of all kinds pertaining to a wholesale notion establishment. These gentlemen, with the enterprise which characterises Terre Haute merchants in general, and this fiaancial and business firm in particular, have forced the season and secured a splendid stock of goods in their special line at the lowest prices, which will enable them to offer bargain sales to their hundreds of customers throughout the vast territory they supply. While it is yet winter, their capacious and well-known notion establishment is receiving all the spring styles in inexhaustible quantities.
Though their large rows of shelves, and commodious and substantial counters are weighed down with goods, it will be two weeks before the entire stock ordered, will be in, though this stock arrives and is stowed away by the car load each day—except Sunday What is to be done with that which comes in the future we will leave in charge of the firm, as we could not see where any more could be packed or stowed anywhere from "turret to foundation."
