From the San Francisco Bulletin, Nov. 24. ARIZONA. DIAMONDS.

Have We a Diamond at Our Doors? Since the days of tUe exploration and conquest of the southern portion of the American continent by Hernando, Cortez and his i^nrd-hitting, pious and plunder-loving,follo»vers, the belief that Arizona—in \\/hich there were then situated, as wof now know, the famous "Kiugdom^f Cibbla," for which Coronodo an/ DeSoto sought so long from opposite,-directions—abounded is the precious rfietals and precious stones has beenjaurrent. So far as the precious metal.y are concerned, recent explorations ajjd mining operations have abundtntly demonstrated tlie truth of the Md traditions, and it is not impossible—we might, perhaps, say not improbable—that the deposits of precious stones, which the Aztecs worked centuries ago, are soon to be found. It is known that the Aztecs occupied Arizona in early days, and that they assured Cortez and his followers that the precious stones—of which they had a considerable store-camefrom the far north, beyond the limits of of the empire of Montezuma as the Spaniards found it. The ruins of those cities are scattered through Central

Arizona, and are outside of the greater ruins running in a semi-circle from the vicinity of Wickenburg, on the Haissiyampi, far to the northward into the country of the Colorado Chiquito, around the Black Forest and San Francisco mountain, and south-west-ward to the Gila. East of [J the mouth of the Salinas is found a range of minor ruins on the hill tops near running water supposed at first to have been temples of the sun, but now admitted to have been intrenched mining camps, located in an enemy's country, or in a country subject to raids from a hostile people—probably the ancestors of the saintly and lamb-like Apache pets of Vincent Collyer of the present day. In

OideissolicCVUU VlllVyf 1UU11V.V/0 \7I IV* V* wu WJ and gold are found, but in others no traces ited of the precious metal are found, and the inference that the occupants must have been seeking for something else is quite natural. One of these ruins is located on a bed of lava, which flowed for a hundred miles to the soatheast from the now silent crater of Mount San Francisco, and is twenty miles from water. The builders of that camp were evidently cutting through the Java aud mining for something underneath it. Years ago Kit Carson's men, in passing through the Navajo country in New Mexico, and the eastern portion of the never fully explored country of the Moqiiis, found on a gravelly plain large quantities of small red stones in the earth, carried out by the red ants of the country, and carried some of them away with them. Years after, Fred Henry, a well-known Arizonian Indian-fighter and miner, gave a number of these stones to a gentleman from this city, who had one of them ground by a lapidary, and it proved to be a genuine ruby, though not very valuable, on account of its dark Color.

Prom the Owen County Journal.

The Owen County Silver Mines—Rich Discoveries. For some weeks we have had little or nothing to say in regard to the silver mine, from the fact that Mr. Schweitzer, the lessee, did not care about having the thing "blowed" until he had demonstrated beyond the shadow of doubt the existence of silver ore in sufficient quantity to pay for working. Mr. S. engaged in the matter with the fixed determination of prosecuting his investigations to a point that would forever settle the existence of the virgin metal in this county, and though lie met with many discouraging remarks from men less determined and enterprising, he persevered in his labors until crowned with success. The last powerful blast let off, after the smoke had cleared away, revealed to his delight and astonished vision a scene that fairly bewildered him with its brilliaucy—a five foot stratum of quartz rock, rich in silver and lead ore, lay glittering before him. The goal now reached, those engaged in making the discovery were at once ordered to cease work until arrangements were made for taking care of the ore. Some of the quartz was taken to an old miner, who crushed it and separated the metals in the usual way, when it was found to be very rich in silver and lead. The old Indian tradition, "that when this mine should be discovered the people of this part of the country no longer need to shoe their horses with iron", bids lair to receive verification.

The whole country iu the region of the mine is in a high state of excitement, and arrangements are making to sink other shafts with a view to striking the quartz stratem. It may extend over a large territory, aud yet it is possible it is confined to the tract Mr. S. has leased. Be this as it may, the excitement is great and laud in the vicinity is held at almost fabulous prices.

Mr. Schweitzer intends starting to "Washington City in a few days to perfect his arrangements for working thymine, disposing of the metal, etc. He also intends to erect a house over the main entrance to the mine, the better to guard against intrusion and pilfering. He informs us that he has refused $50,000 for fin eighth interest in the mine, believing that he can superintend and carry it on himself. He has just learned that tons

lie is goiug to make provision for saving itMr. Schweitzer has heretofore given notice waruiug pfeisons not to visit the mine without a permit. He now gives notice that he wiilprosucute those who fail to heed the above request.

VINEGAR BITTERS

J. WALKER Proprietor. K..H. MCDONALD& CO., Druggist! and Gen. Ag'ti. SAB Francisco, Cal., and 32 and 31 Commerce St.N.Y. Vinegar Bitters are not a vile Fancy Drink Made of Poor Rnm, Wliisky, Proof Spirits and Refuse Liqnors doctored, spiced and sweetened to please the taste, called 'Tonics, "Appetizers," "Restorers," &c., that lead the tippler on to drunkenness and ruin, but are a true Medicine, made from the Native Boots and Herbs of California, free from all Alcoholic Stimulants. They are the GREAT JtLOOD PURIFIER and A lilFE GIVINO PRINCIPLE, a perfect Renovator and Invigorator ot the System, carrying off all poisonous matter and restoring the blood to a healthy condition. No person can take these Bitters according to directions and remain long unwell, provided their bones are not destroyed by mineral poison or other means, and the vital organs wasted beyond the point of repair.

They area gentle Purgative as well as a Tonic, possessing also, the peculiar merit oi acting as a powerful agent in relieving Congestion or inflammation of the Liver, and all the Visceral Organs.

FOR FEMALE COMPLAINTS, whetuer in young or old, married or single, at the dawn of womanhood or at the turn of life, these Tonic Bitters have no eqnal.

For Inflammatory and Chronic Rheumatism and Gout, Dyspepsia or Indigestion, Billions, Remittent and Intermittent Fevers, Diseases of the Blood, Liver, Kidneys and Bladder, these Bitters have been most successful. Such Diseases are caused by Vitiated Blood, which is generally produced oy derangement of the Digestive °DYSPErSIA OR INDIGESTION Headache, Pain in the Shoulders, Coughs, Tightness of the Chest, Dizziness, Sour Eructations of the Stomach, Bad taste in the Mouth. Billious Attacks, Palpitation of the Heart, Inflamation of the Lungs, Pain in the region oi the Kidneys, and a hundred other painful symptoms, are the offsprings of Dyspepsia.

They invigorate the Stomach and stimulate the torpid liver and bowels, which render them of unequalled efficacy in cleansiug the blood of all impurities, and imparting new life and vigor to the whole system.

FOR SKIN DISEASES, Eruptions, Tetter, Salt Rheum, Blotches, Spots, Pimples, Pustules, Boils, Carbuncles, Ring Worms, Scald Head, Sore Eyes, Erysiplas,Itch,Scurfs,Discolorations of the Skin, Humors and Diseases of the Skin, of whatever name or nature, are literally dug up and carried out, of tlie system iu a short time by the use of these Bitters. One bottle in such cases will convince the most incredulous of the curative effect

Cleanse the Vitiated blood whenever you And its impurities bursting through theskin in Pimples, Eruptions or Sores, cleanse it when you find it oostructed and sluggish in the veins: cleanse it when it is foul, and your feelings will tell you when. Keep the blood pure and the health of the system will follow.

PIN, TAPE, and other WORMS, lurking in the system of so many thousands, are effectually destroyed and removed. For full dtiections, read carefully the circular around each bottle, printed in four languages—English, German, French and

Believing that your spirit is like the aspirations of your mighty country—cosmopolitan— I am satisfied that you approved of no such contemptible act of some impoverished spirits around you. Clutterback. "Very many persons know the operation of croton oil when placed upon the tongue, to say the least, it is speedy. Purgatives in some sha. e, are indispensable in the practice of medicine. Many diseases are in curable without them and all of the simple disorders of the system are benefitted by their use. The great desideratum in their administration has been to get one which has either laxative or purgative, as was needed—always mild but always efficient—and the use of which did not make it necessary to continue its use. This basal last been done. EDWAKD WINDER'S FAM ILY PILLS fulfill all the requirements of the case. They area laxative, yet sure purgative, yet mild, in small doses, they meet the first want: in l:uge doses, they fulfill the latter but in whatever quantity given, they create no necessity for they create no morbid state oi the alimentary canal tube, butleave it cleansed and urge it to renewed health. They are, in brief, a blessing to the individual who supers from constipation and needs a laxative, and are indispensable to him who is parched with lever and requires a purgative. Use them, all you who value health.

A distinguished physiologist hasdeclaredthat it seems to be a principle of nature that every situation capable of supporting organic bodies should be peopled with them. The huge whale-is often driven tomadessbyan almost invisible member of the tribe of vermes. The historv of Helminthology abounds in illustrations of the influence of worms in the production of disease and in the exasperation of their symptoms. The frequency of worms in the bodies of men their obviousness to the senses, together with their common connection with enfeebled and morbid states ot the animal economy, all tend to render them an object of interest from the remotest periods. The very ablest minds have been devoted to the study of these entoza with the view of discovering some substance which was capable of speedily, safely and permanently expelling them irom the human sytem. EDWAKD WILDER'S MOTHER'S WORM SYRUP is a true vermicide, a geuuine worm destroyer, a bona fide vermifuge. Its taste is delightful, its effects are quick, its results unfailing. It is free from danger. No intestinal worm can ljve in its presense. Mothers! destroy the worms which infest your little ones, with this deiightfu syrup.i

Dr. Laennec.

This renowned Frenchman did more peihapss to clear up the mysteries which before his timflj had invested the nature of chest diseases than any other physician who ever lived. Yet with all his skill in detecting the nature and form oi the malady before him, lie was sadly deficient in his knowledge of remedies. He drew vivid pictures of coughs, colds, pleurisy, consumption, croup, bronchitis, catarrhs and all the affections of the air passages still he left but few words concerning their treatment. The youngest physician to-day knows better how to manage any one of these chest troubles he knows the value of the wild cherry he is acquainted with its supreme virtues he is aware of the many potent agents which enter into the combination of Edward Wilder's Compound Extract of Wild Cherry, and knows that with the use oi this truly great medicine he is fully master oi the situation. He has no fear in the presence ol croup, no misgivings at the advance of bronchitis he grapples wtth consumption, and subdues every cough, cold, or catarrh. Hence everj family should always have this invaluabl medicine at hand.

Indigestion,

Which makes sleep a pain, and turns its balm to wormwood," is, we all know, the most, common of all the disorders of the stomach. It is also the most obstinate. It has been the most written about. No disease presents such various, contrary, and incompatible symptoms. They contradict all the laws of order, constancy and inconsistency, which regulate natural events they bother the doctor, and can only be read by him who is skilled in the book of nature. It is self evident tha the different forms of indigestion are to be met by corresponding methods of cure. It has beeii said that the perfection of medical skill is the talent of applying to each individual case its precise and as It were, its individual cure. This is the object which every conscientious physician pursues unceasingly, and never can rest satisfied until he has overtaken. Edward Wilder's Stomach Bitters, their body being the purest of copper-distilled whisky, makes this object attainable alike to all. They area specific—the disease specifying the remedy, not the remedy the disease. They are a combination of substances which meet the speciality ol the disorder by a corresponding speciality ol cure. They should be kept in every well-regu-lated family they are indispensable to health.

Gaudianna River*

The British army when it advanced on Talavara and fought the celebrated battle, which was followed by a retreat into the plains, lost more men by the malarial diseases contracted on the banks of the Gaudiana than by the bullets of the enemy. They died by thousands All Europe believed that the invading army was extirpated. Yet malaria diseases are no more common in Europe than in our own country th6y exist throughout the length and breadth of our land—everywhere at some time and in some shape are we made to feel the sickening influence of miasm. The three grept actors in this equation of disease are solar heat, moisture, and vegetable decomposition. The tiio, if separated, are harmless together they are more potent for evil than any other known agents so long as they exist, just so long will we have need of a medicine which will overcome their pernicious effects, so long will it be necessary to have a remedy capable of meeting and beating the insidious enemy. Of all known agents for this purpose, none is to compare with Edward Wilder's Chill Tonic, the master of every form aud variety and grade and degree of malarial disease and of miasmatic poison. Try it, all you who are suffering from any form of ague and fever or chills and fever, as a cure is guaranteed in every case.

A considerable portion of the building is set apart lor patients suffering with diseases of the skin, and every patient, old or young, is taking potash in some shape, and Honduras sarsaparilla in some form. They were esteemed by the renowned physicians who had charge oi the skin department as well-specific in almost eveiy variety of cutaneous disease, whether of rheumatic orscrofulous or simple origin. They were given in tetter, ringworm, nettle-ash,rose-ash, pimples, scrofuia, ulcers, old sores, falling of the hair, etc. In all they did good, in m^t they ™^t^YMTne"dolIir rVm¥ted"to"me I effected a cure.
