A party of us were duck hunting the other day on the Missouri bottoms. Night overtook us almost before we were aware of it, and we were obliged to seek loJgiug at the first dwelling we could find. It was a small, one story structure of three rooms, and occupied by a family of six—father, mother, daughter and threesons. Thesons were all unmarried, and from the calls that were made afterward we judi?e the daughter was uBmar» ried also. We hadn't been in the house five minutes when some hind of a vehicle drove up and two younir men were ushered into the parlor. Straightway the mother .and daughter held a whispered consultation, which closed with an invitation to the sittin' room for supper. It was evident the young men callers had been to tea, as they staid in the parlor with "sweet sixteen." Scarcely had we taken our seats at the table when a howl from the dogs outdoor* announced another comer. He seemed to avoid the front door, and knocked at that where our party was just setting to supper. The mother rose to answer the summons, when we were surprised by the daughter opening the door and rushing forward with "Don't get up, mother! It's one of my fellows! Come in Jim how do you do?"
And Jim eutered in response to the cherry salutation. He made, himself as comfortable as possible till \ve had finished supper, when another whispered conversation proved that the "parlor is full as it ort to be," which was Whispered by Miss, in Response to some motherly suggestion. The old man solved the question by inviting us into the kitchen to smoke. It was evident Jim didn't smoke, for he remained in the sitting-room. We would have doubtless eujoyed a quiet cigar had not the old lady opened the back door, and shouted at the top of her voice: "Come round to the backdoor." It was another young man, and We' landed he looked as if he had come rather late. Two young men within the parlor, one In the sitting-room and one in the kitchen. What should be done? hot! There was another talk between mother and daughter. It was evident their devices had been exhausted. The old gentleman was called into tiie corner. He settled the question with a whisper. "I'll de d- if I'll move again till the sitting-room's full!"
Into the sitting-room went number four and vve smoked. It was.fully ten minutes before the next disturbers came, and they entered the kitchen with an air of old acquaintances. We looked anxiously at the host. Taking his pipe fro hi his mouth, a single sentence relieved us: ... .Them's the widowers! Stick?", 'And we "stuck" and smoked on. For the next half hour the girl must have been kept busy. The widowers certainly had a third of her time. It was 9 o'clock.. We wished to no to bed, and the only bed we had discovered was in the parlor. The old gentleman divined our wishes and said: "I'm sorry, gentlemen. But this is one of the regular cotirtin' nights! Them two fellers in the parlor never leave before midnight, and the widerwers aHus stay all night. Aud that ain't the worst of it I I and the boys alius sleep iu the haystack Friday nights. Yer welcome to that I"
The parlor sitting-room and kitchen full, we retreated to a haystack. In response to a question rou the point, the old srentleman said that— "Friday nightlt's bad, but Sundays it's wuss. Last Sunday night there was ten on 'em, «nd th&tgiri is gettin' more and more particuler. The more she gets, thje more she wants!"
On the haystack, with a stiff "breezb driving away the musquitoes, we heard Dan drive up. One of the last remarks of the old man before he fell asleep was, "Yes, gentlemen, courtin's hot in Nebrasky!" And we believe him. KHs

Buckner, of Kentucky, wasinteildiug to enter the rebel .army, and feared the confiscation of property owned by his wife in Illinois ih consequeuce of that act, Mrs. Bucknejr joined her husband in a deed conveyiur "her interest in all the property she had ^inherited from her father to her brotbeii,
Henry W. Kingsbury, who was aiiolfi""oer in the United Stat& 'armv. Thfe brother was subsequently killed at Anr tietam, and three months after his death there was born.to hhu a posthumous child. Iu 1865 the widow of Kingsbur^ remarried, taking Gteri. As. G. JLa^ireuce 'as heUniabaml. For sevoral years the estate was managed without'legal authority by an agent, after which litiga^ tion took plaoe, the family of Col. In the course of time it was ascertained that on the eve of his departure to the battle-field of An tietam, Col. King*bury had left la the hands of a frieild a paper which he supposed to be a will. Iu this d«»oument he left ft recoM of his wishes respectiug the disposition of his property, bequeathing-to his sister, Mrs. Buckner, xnie-third of the property in

Chicago and duly recorded there. Mrs. Buckner now set up her for |tn undivided half 6f her father's estare claiming thftt her deed, absolute upon its face, was in fact but a deed in trust and to pro«^ .tliSte Ah'e presented

the legality of the will was denied, and the conveyance of 1861 was claimed as an absolute deed. The court decided that the deed of Mrs. Buckner was a deed of trust, and that she is the owner of an undivided half of the jiroperty known as the Kingsbury estate, which previous to to the fire in Chicago "was estimated to be worth over oue million dollars.
