THE NEW TELEGRAPH LINE.—Weare happy in being able to announce that the Atlautic and Pacific telegraph liue will be extended from Indianapolis to this city in a few weeks, and will zo straight through to St. Louis. This wili give us a rival line and cheap telegraph ing. which is much needed in tiiis city.

THE Parke county Circuit Court convenes at lvockville next week.

rThe

case

of the State J\ Johns'Stephen*, charged with the murder of William Reeves, will come up for trial, and we hope it will be disposed of this coming term. His case appears first upon the docket, but will be set for trial some day during the term.

A CORRECTION.—We understand that a report is current in the city that Charley Bartine's Occidental Combination v/as attached for debt while in this city. We wish to correct such an impression if it has any existence. We know that they were not, and that they paid their bills here like gentlemen, as they have proven themselves, though they lost money.

SPRUNG THE TRACK —Saturday evening Conductor Early's train on the Evansville, Terre Haute & Chicago Railread, due at Newport at 6:15 P. M. sprung the track between Clinton and Newport two different times, for some reason that ould not be learned, which delayed the train to such a degree that it didn't reach Newport until live o'clock yesterday morning. No one was hurt, we are pleased to learn.

PERSONAL.—Ex-Judge Cram is quite sick at his residence in this city. J. H. Locke, E-iq., arrived home from the South, where he has been looking after his business interests therr, Saturday evening, well and hearty.

Pat Shannon, Esq., went to Indianapolis this afternoon. Speaker Mack arrived home from Indianapolis Saturday and returned this morning.

articles of association of the Terre

The capital stock is lix*ed at $100,000, in shares of $5C0 each, with charter to exist eight years. The business be governed by nine directors, and the object is to fund a capital by regular monthly assessments upon each share held by the members to be loaned out to members to acquire a homestead, or to be used in -other business.

TO CLINTON BY KAIL

Fnncrnl Obsequies of General Henry i).,

WashJjurn.

Notwithstanding the inclcmency of the weather yc.-terday, five coaches of ihtE./r. II. & Chicago Railroad wore ii orally packed to their utmost seating capacity with ladies and gentlemen who

A'a^hbtirn, by President Collett. Ihe jvlasons of this city alleiuh in a body ,n full uniform, making a very imposing appearance as they marched through the street, prceeeded by Prof. Tout's popular band.

The train left the Union Depot at 1:3-3 P. M. in charge of Conductor Col. Abe S learer, and Engineer John Wagner, both of whom understand their ousiness, if we are to judge by the. .jromj.'t and easy manner in which they ielived their load of human hvight at 'linton in less than an hour iioin toe ime i-f starting. The ro-ul we Sound to io a most excedent one in e%ery respect, md in splendid order. Indeed so smooth ,nd even is the track we could not teli, ,'rom sensations experienced, but thai ee were traveling over the Lake Shore Railroad. x^rriving at Clinton, the Masons from ,his city were joined by the Masons irom .lockville, Montezuma, Newport, Ciin„ou and Sand lord, WHO lormed in proces, iuu witii Tout's band at their head, piojeeded to the resilience ol toe Luher-in-,aw of the lamented Geneial, liuni

A-hence the remains were taken coaige ,y lliu King.lis Tetnplais ot Ijouiibg joniniaiidi'y ot tins eiiy. fcir ivniglii.-, JiacK, Alien, Burnett, Abb.ti, iiagci aid MeUl.i, acting as p.di-beaiet, ,vuo convened tlie rennulis lroiu .e hou.-e to the tine ami beatuil'ui .iuar.-e of Mr. Isaac Bail oi Luis cny.

The piocession then l'vpaned to the deliioilist Catnch, wnere the lie v. L. Nebker, of Laporte, and a relative oi toe Jeneral, by marriage, preached the Allien. 1 di-course by a request of tlieGeniVi's, made when in theariuy, and upon „ne occasion ot his preacliiug tne s-ennon d'a relative and a comrade, of whicii .,1 r.-. Wasburn was aware, and telegraphed him upon her husband'o death, it was impossible lor one-lotirth ol the persons present to obtain an entrance to the church, we being included in tho?e ,viio were unable to efl'ect'an entrance.

At the close of the sermon, the Masonic -service, at the church, was gone through vvith, and the proce-sion was again ,'ornicd preceded by Tout's Band playing "dead march," whicii escorted the renains of the distinguished and honored ead to their final resting place, the .viiiglit Templars being the immedide escort of the remains. Upon •eaclling the cemetery the beair iful mil impressive ritual of tlie Knight iVniplars was conducted by I'iniiicnt Commander, Charley Cruft, with tiev. Dr. Austin, Rector of the Episcopal Cnurch of tiiis city, acting as

t'relate,

which appropriate and solemn

ceremony was listened to with the most dxed attention by tiie two thousand md upward of sorrowing souls wiio demonstrated the high appreciation diey had of the services of the deceased while living, and the deep and irrepparable loss they felt at his unimely death, by being present and paying so close attention, and taking such dee}) and heart-felt interest in his funeral services under such unfavorable atmospherical surroundings.

W'hen the interesting ceremony was over, and the mortal remains of the illustrious dead had been finally consigned to the elements from whence they sprung, the assembled thousands, with sorrowing souls and saddened hearts, mournfully and silently retired from the cold and silent grave where reposes one of Indiana's gallant soldiers and valued citizens. The Terre Haute delegation arrived home at about 7 o'clock, the Knight Tempiers with Tout's Band •t their head, marchingfrom the train to their Hall.

NILSSON.—From the Associated Press reports of this morning we learn that Miss Nilsson is still at Cincinnati and was quite sick last night, but her physicians think she will escape an attack of fever with which she has been threatened. There is no indication as to when she will be able to resume her concerts. Though this third disappointment of our people is a bitter one, it is no doubt all for the best, as it would be better to await Nilsson's entire recovery than have her fill her engagement when laboring under so great a physical, indisposition and disappoint them by giving an inferior concert. We still have a faint ray of hope that Manager Strackosh will make good his faith by filling his engagement at this point. If he does not, after having disappointed our people the third time he should and doubtless will be denounced by the press of the entire country, which denouncement will be equivalent to closing up his career as a manager of concerns. We will admit that the illness of Miss Nilsson is sufficient cause for delay, and so long as that is the cause of iyu' repeated hnd continued disappointment we can endure it as the inevitable if not as the acceptable.

Upon the receipt of the telegrams of Saturday, announcing that the troupe could not appear here this evening, dispatches were immediately sent to Evansville, Vincennes, Rockville, Mat toon, Marshall, Charleston and Paris, and word sent to Clinton, Newport and Perrvsville yesterday, in order that the people of those points, who held tickets, should not-be disappointed.

MRS. PEBRY ARRESTED.—Last

day

night between one and two o'clock, Officers Crowe" and Vandever made a descent upon the house where the three burglars, Perry, Foster and Mott, were arrested a short time since, and where the stolen goods were found, and arrested and searched Mrs. Perry, but could find nothing. They then brought her to jaii, charged with receiving the stolen property which was recovered, where she remained until this morning when she had a hearing before Mayor Cookerly on the charge given above, and had her bail fixed at $500, in default of which she was remanded to jail to await the aQtion of the Grand Jury.
