Muscle.—The

Court was made tiie s-cene ot a lively discussion yesterday afternoon, which was arried on with a lively interchange of the various authorities on criminal law, in a manner that was irightful to see. The participants were a couple of our most gifted and brilliant, though hotblooded young lawyers, S. C. Davis and II. Dunnigan. One ot these gentleman disputed the other's veracity, which was followed by the oflenued heaving a double handful of criminal law, at his head, the contents of which we will venture to say were mostly in his head at that time. The parties then clinched and would have made the fur fly, but for the interferance of the bystanders, who crowded around and separated the combatants before they had succeeded in disarranging their wigs to any considerable extent. The court fined the beligerents, each $-30, which they "shelled out."

Keep quiet, sonny. Which is the worst, pray tell, to steal a communication written for another paper, or to steal an editorial? Our mental powers, you will find, are not exhausted, and you had better display some of your immense store of valuable knowledge in writing for your own paper, instead of doing the dirty icork of writing cards for that delectable hole called the Academy. down at or near the Academy of Music night before last, of whom mention was made in our issue of yesterday, is John Bell, who is an engineer on the Vandalia Railroad. He was to have met his wife at the depot, on her way from Effingham to join him, and in his company to attend the grand ball that evening given al Beach Hall, by the fraternity of Locomotive Engineers, of which he is a member, but meeting with the unfortunate accident which he did, was unable to attend. The whole affair of the assault is still shrouded in mystery, and-the villain who perpetrated the outrage is yet a fugitive from justice.

Yes, but we think if some of our citizens should complain of the institution as a nuisance, that the free tickets would not do much {:ood, for our Mayor and the gentlemen comprising the City Council could not be purchased so cheaply, and if they could see it as a nuisance, would squelch it at once. All they are waiting for, is some one to make the complaint.
