following decision of the Revenue Commissioner will be of Interest to some of our farmers who manufacture their own molasses: -t'" Manufacturers of Molasses from Cane are not liablo to Special Tax unless tlieir

A. O. Houair, who lias just started a first class broom factory in this city, brought to our sanctum to-day, a lot of the handsomest made brooms we have ever seen. They are indeed beauties. We commend this new enterprise to our citizens, for Hough won't say his brooms are good unless they are, and he will not ask you any more for them, than.tliey are worth. .'j,, -C
WE are glad to notice that our friend, Mr. E. L. Ball, the great stove dealer, is sending out a large uumber of stoves of all kinds, and that his trade is increasing at a rapid rate. This comes of a system of liberal advertising which he has adopted, and which it would be well for other dealers to imitate, if they desire success. Drop in at his store when you will, and you will always find plenty of customers.
THE Mayor had but three cases before him this morning. A colored individual on charge of drunkenness and disorderly conduct, was appropriately fined and costed. A couple of white men on charge of visiting a house of ill-fame were each mulcted in a small sum of fine and costs. The above were all the cases His Honor had before him this morning.

Seventh street last night,
Mr. J. Dodridge Poet and Miss Emma Zelia Krumbhaar were united in marriage At an early hour the church was filled with ladles and gentlemen who patiently awaited the performance of the ceremony, which began a little before 8 o'clock. The altar was strewn with bright flowers, and at the hour fixed for the wedding, the lady and gentleman, walked along the aisle, followed by the father and mother of the bride, and the bridegrooms and bridesmaids. Missess Laura Griswold, Susan Ball, Nellie Gilbert and Nellie Preston acted as bridesmaids.- iThe beautiful ritual of the .Episcopal church was used in full. The happy couple left last night at 12 o'clock on a bridal tour East, and after their return they will go to Mr. Peet's home in New Orleans. We hope they may live long and enjoy great happiness.

WE hardly think our people appreciate the importance of good roads to the country as they ought. If so they would make an effort to improve the roads leading to the country. During the winter season we would have marketing much cheaper if the roads were not often in such condition that farmers cannot get to the city. Good gravel roads would improve the business of the city at all seasons of the year, but more especially in the Winter. Of course the improvement can be made at this season of the year, but this matter ought to be considered early next Spring, and a movement made that would secure us good roads. ai

LBxit not.be forgotten that Prof. H»selmayer will give one of his novel and pleasing entertainments at Dowling Hall on Friday night. It is entirely unobjectionable, and we are sure the house will be filled to its capacity. Make your arrangements to attend.
LIVE quails are frequently otffefe&~for sale in this city. Of course they, were caught in a net. This is a violation of tBe game law, and an example ought to be made of the parties who thus violate it. .w -i

ALMOST every week there is an excursion over on?* or the other of our railroads to the Wco'. The excursion business has proven quite profitable to the roads, and popular with the people.
THE people who reside on the cast side of the E. & C. 11. R. are anxious for the opening of Ohio street, and are growing quite impatient at the delay. It will be sometime before that street is opened.
THE
pork dealers pay but 7 cents per
