CnrrlrsMiess Causes a Collision. A coPision occurred on Friday about 11 o’clock a. m., on the I. & St. L. Railroad, about one mile west of this city The circumstances are as follows: Lngine 55, going west, side-tracked for an east-bound train, which arrived in due time and carried a rod signal indicating the close proximity of an extra train The crew in charge of the train lying upon the side track were in the meantime eating dinner and failed to take notice of the signals displayed by the tegular train, and consequently pulled cut after finishing their meaK-and had proceeded so far as tl^plqce indicated when the damaging collisioirijwli place. The approach from the west is around a curve, and fortunately in this case up grade, so that tha engineer, upon perceiving a train coming from the opposite direction, was able to speedily reverse his engine, sh p the train and retreat to a place of safety. Although the other train was skipping down grade at a very good rate, the engineer had the presence of mind to reverse his engine and both he and the fireman jump from the engine. The crash was a loud one, being | heard more than a mile distant. The

Excessive bleeding was tho treatment given by Dr. Arthur to Edward Ueche at Buena Vista, Ind., and death ensued. It is charged that the physician was not ignoiant or careless, but murderous, as the patient was his enemy, and he has been
put under arrest.
A couple had taken their places before a clergyman to be married, at Lowvillo, N. Y., when a quarrel arose about tho handling of tho ring, and the wedding
was postponed indefinitely. MAN’S INGRATITUDE.
This is an ungrateful world, to say the least. A man will act like a lunatic when he has the Itching Riles, and declare that he knows he can’t live another day, yet he applies Swayno’s Ointment, the intense itching is allayed at once, he gets cured, and goes down to the lodge without one whit of gratitudo.
