Wi dnesday morning Peyton walked into Brattin's Jewelry Store, handed a watch to Mr. Flemming, one of the employes at the store, and infarmed him that he wished to trade or sell it. When Flemming examined the watch, he immediately recognized it by the marks end number of the movement, whereupon he informed Peyton that it was stolen. Tho accused denied the allegation, took the watch from Mr. Flemming's hand, and ieft the store; but he was shadowed, while the officers were informed of tho matter, and arrested in the rear of Talburt Block. In the meantime, however, he had dodged around town considerably, and in his migrations either hid or threw away the watch. The accused was arraigned before Mayor Miller and held for trial.
