Iftliey ever got anything more than my last seventy-live cents for that cold day and night's ride, they will be able to tell. By the way, let me say that I never blamed Mr. Elrod or tho con-ta-ble. 1 supposed it was a pul-up job, as the old docket legally came into the bands of 1). C. Donnobue, on which we could find no entry. Now let ns go over to that group sit- j ting on that log. You will see Wm. J.i Darnall. J. N. Cooper, Dennis Shell and others. They have decided to build a log school hous : where tho M. E. Church
now stands.
Just over in that log building op the j corner you will see another group, so-ne sitting facing each other and others looking on. We suppose them to be noblemen, for they are talking of kings, queens, diamonds nod hearts. Just back of them there is a very polite gentleman; we suppose his name to be “Tom and Jerry," ns we see that name there. If you want to know what they are doing,

l.ovt; ami Small l*o\. Small pox is hardly an incentive to marriage, yet two hearts were bound in tho chains of Hymen through the agency of that dread disease. A young lady, whose residence is in the classic precincts of Ida Hill, visited a friend suffering from small pox, in direct opposition to the will of her parents. Upon her return she was denied admittance i under the paternal roof. She immediately sought her “host fuller''and poured into his capacious ears tho tale of her banishment by her parents. He, thoroughly aroused, proposed that they bo j married forthwith, and the knot was speedily tied by a neighboring clergyman. Marriageable females are not advised to imitate this young lady's example great chances are run of catching the small pox and not catching a husband.
