The Fair.

Tho 24th Annual Fair of tho Putnam County Agricultural Society is ’‘on” at the fair grounds, cast of the ccity, this week. Tho attendance of visitors has not boon as largo as desirable, though tho exhibits wore above the average, both in number and merit. In the live stock departments there were two hundred and twenty-three en tries, while in the horticultural, mechanical and other departments there were a large number of entries, but the exact number we did not learn. Among the exhibitors of stock we noticed Messrs. Peck, Higgle, Sweeney, Chenoweth, McCoy, Stewart, Crow, Bryant, Phillips, Gillespie. Stoner, Bryant A: Marks, Gofer, Tennant, Shoptaugh. Browning, Lockridge, and others whose names now slip our memory. Messrs. J. D. Stevenson & Son made a fine display of stoves, hardware and agricultural implements. Mulholn, Hanna & Black showed a largo line of late styled and handsome furniture. Hubbard & Fry, of Bainbridge, made a big show of agricultural implements, and called especial attention to their Faust vV Bradley plows, Renick, Curtis & Co., were on hand as usual, with a fine lay-out of carriages and buggies. Burnett makes a tine exhibit of bis wares. Colo Bros, show a large and vaned lino of lightning-rods and fixtures, while tho sewing machines, washing machines, organs, fruit dryers, etc., were on sight in force. The management of the fair is spoken of highly by those who have knowledge of these nv.tters, ami it is no fault of the officers that the fair has not been more largely patronized. Persons who attended tho fair no doubt enjoyed themselves, and wo wish more had availed themselves of an opportunity that will not present itself again for a year.
