Unless they go to work the Democrat will have something to say in regard to them next week. Some of them will not work even at odd jobs when the cash is tendered them in advance. They are a disgrace to the city and

should be ordered to skip.

The dance given at the new opera house Thursday evening by Lawrence Mahoney and Dora Foxworthy was quite a success. Over fifty ladies and

The doctors of Putnam county will “talk the matter over” at Cloverdale next Wednesday. The medical society will be warmly received and well entertained by the citizens of that enter-

While ’ dodging a kicking horse Thursday, Simp Parker, bumped his head against a bolt in a hay wagon frame. As a result an ugly gash, two inches in length, required the attention

of a surgeon.

Weather prophets are entitled to little credit, but all the signs indicate a hard winter hard fbr those who are squandering money at Chicago which should be saved for the expenses of

the next three months.

Boys who are in the habit of shoot ing craps beneath the arc lights and making night hideous on the various si reel corners of the city had better get under cover. The police have been no-

tified and are “alter them.”

John Foran and A. Kelly have teen operating a quart saloon in South Greencastle on the “Cherokee Strip.” The grand jury found ten indictments against them. Kelly is in jail and Foran out of limbo on $500 bond.

Hendricks county.

Hendricks county justice is a queer and peculiar thing. If you steal a lot of old hens you go to the penitentiary for two years; but if you are a Plainfield republican hoodlum and shoot an unarmed democrat at a political rally, a jail sentence of 1!K) days is considered

sufficient punishment.

At the Terre Haute races on Thursday a thief stole the purse of Mrs Robert Linn, of Shelburn. He was detected in the act and handed it back to her.
